Has anyone taken 5FU in pill form and how did it go.

I went in for my chemo and they gave me my cisplatin through IV and the 5FU in pill for. I am to take it twice a day for 2 weeks. Then i have 2 weeks of before starting it all over again. Only 2 more sets of chemo after this one, but i was wondering if taking it in the pill form will be easier on me or harder on me? Any thoughts or experiences?

    I dont know about 5FU. But I took Hydroxyurea in pill form and after my second week of rads I had to have it crushed and put in the peg.
    How big are the 5FU pills? Mine were big enough to give to a horse. LOL I am sure if no rads are being given it would be much easier, than taking the pump home, which most here have done. I am not sure but would ask if the two a day pill is similar to the 96 hours that most had with the pump?
    Are you getting any side effects from it yet? I got the mouth sores pretty bad, I was on it(5FU) for 120 hrs week. I dont know if this is any help or not

    I did have 5FU, not in pill form though. Mine was through my port and with a pump that was strapped on in a fanny pack. I had three cycles of it (nine weeks three cycles).

    The pump was strapped on after a day of Cisplatin and Taxotere. The pump was put on Monday afternoon, pumped 24/7 about every 30 seconds and came off Friday mornings.

    I think I'd rather have the pill.....

    I think it's a bit easier so we'll see. I guess the side effects will be what they are. Thanks for the info guys.

    Side Effects
    I don't really think I had any side effects I can think of. The only thing that I can remember specifically is the odor. I seemed to have an odor emitting from me. I'd go urinate and it almost smelled like the musk odor of cat spray or ferrets...LOL. Once you get that smell in your nostrils, it's hard to get it out of your head.

    When I soaked in the tub, as it was hard to shower with the pump, my wife swore I smelled the house up, like a medicine tea bag...LOL.

    I just hated hearing the pump squeeze a few more drops in me every 30 seconds or so...but it was one of the drugs to kill the cancer.
