    5fu and wine
We were going on a vacation and my sister specifically asked my mother's oncologist this question 3 weeks ago. She is on 5fu. He said she could have win, but not the day before chemo, during chemo or 2 days after
chemo. It is best to check with your doctor.

She only had a glass of wine.

I always check with my oncologist about well, almost everything. I did check with her last fall after I was on this chemo to see if I can have the odd glass of wine, & she gave me a resounding "YES", saying maybe not a whole bottle. I usually avoid any a day or two before chemo, + ~ 3 days after but I will have the odd glass of wine in between. So yes, I would have a glass of wine in front of you, knowing I have my onc's approval. I find while on chemo many red wines do not taste good; they make my mouth sore; I am not sure if it is the tannins. However, a friend of mine was just in the Niagara region of Ontario last weekend (~ 1 hr from here + a huge wine producing area) + has brought me back a red, a gamay I beleive (I haven't seen it yet) which she thinks may be kinder on my mouth (we'll see!). I love chardonnays, so I am good anyway.

I don't know if I can send it across the border....
but you are absolutely right; Niagara is really well known for its ice wine; we have some here, come on up for a glass or two!

    Yummy
Always liked my wine too. Didn't have much during chemo weeks but when I did it was great. Hope you enjoy your dinner and wine.

    Sure
I have the odd glass of wine while on chemo. I can't stomach it for several days right after chemo but later on.....I discussed with my onc and he said OK (occasional glass!). He monitors my liver counts and of course if they get bad or borderline then he tells me and no more wine.
