Doesn't anybody around here
Doesn't anybody around here work??? LOL. It's almost fall and I for one am not ready for cold weather. Much, much yard and house work to do. Many of you people live such wonderfully vibrant lives while dealing with your cancer. I read all the stories of travel and parties and I still spend all my free time just getting by. I just don't have time to spend a day fishing or golfing or take a weekend and travel. There is stuff that has to get done. I usually only do things on the weekend that I can do with my family. Except work. People always tell me I work too much but who the heck is gonna do it if I don't? I know many of the travelers here are older or retired even but at 46, I still feel like a hamster on a wheel. I guess I consider myself lucky to be able to do all the work and that very well may change so I'm doing it while I can. So, like every Saturday, I'll work in the yard, do a couple projects in the house, order a pizza around 8:00pm and rent a movie to watch with my wife and kids. Two more weeks of normalcy before I have to plan my surgery and things will forever be changed.
Oh yea, I have to drain the pool and pack it up, do an oil change on my truck and go with my son to get haircuts. Aint life grand.....
Enjoy what you can, I do........

Rick and I are going up to
Rick and I are going up to Portland, ME for the weekend. This will be our first "vacation" away from home in over 9 months, so we're really looking forward to just a little R&R. I don't know how much walking around he'll be able to do with those tingling feet of his, but he wants to give it a try. Maybe I just worry too much... Anyway, I hope that everyone has a nice weekend! Take care all, Cynthia0 -

I am recuperating from chemo
I am recuperating from chemo - I had it today; usually I have it every other Tuesday. I was scheduled for chemo last Tuesday but was delayed because my neutrophils were low; I guess because of the Labour Day weekend they couldn't fit me in until today. Ha - my netrophils rocked at 9.8 - minimum for chemo is 1.5; normal range is 2-7, @ least the way we measure here in Canuckland. So I had chemo, with a very long wait time - I left home @ ~ 9 AM, returned @ 5:30 PM. There was a "tubing shortage" @ my chemo centre - it sounds like they received a lot of inferior tubing they had to return + had some improvising to do. They had one of my drips on gravity rather than the pump. My one roomate was very upset with the delay - he is 80, today is his birthday + he + his wife were missing the bridge tournament they were registered for @ a resort ~ 2 hours away. He said they were missing registration, cocktails, the dinner but he was really concerned because if they missed the beginning round of the tournament THEY WOULD NOT BE ELIGABLE FOR THE PRIZES! This seemed to stress him more than the chemo, etc. When my daughter + I were leaving the parking lot, we saw him hop into the driver's seat of his car - not bad for 80, especially if he had a 2+ hr drive. I came home + crawled into bed. I will see how I am feeling the next few days + will update if I am up to anything exciting. Enjoy your weekend!0 -
Boring
All right, guess I'm having a boring weekend, plan on hauling 3 more truck loads of lava rock to surround my cactus in the front yard with, haul another 1/4 yard of melonite (spelled wrong, but means WHITE ROCK), putting more yard fabric down around the rose bush garden, haul more lava rock for that, finish left and right side garden in back yard, (white rock on one side with brick, left side, white rock and lava rock on right side) secret garden in side of house yard ALL DONE!!! YEA!!!!
I have so many cactus owies, I lost count!!! You would think, hmmm, front yard, cactus garden, be most careful, but somehow forget it's cactus, and then owie time starts once again. I'm pretty sure on Monday my Onc, will think something horrible has happened to my arms, I just have to explain CACTUS to him, lot's of holes and bruises. LOL0 -

"Open Monumentendag
European Heritage Days in the Netherlands
The Open Monumentendag (Heritage Days) is designed to bring people into contact with the historic environment, and to encourage interest in and understanding of historical monuments and the need for their preservation. During the Open Monumentendag - every second weekend of September - thousands of historical buildings and sites (about 4,000) are open to the public free of charge. Besides opening their doors, many locations also organise on-site activities like exhibitions, music and guided tours. Each year around 80 to 85 percent of Dutch municipalities participate in the Open Monumentendag, organised by local committees. In recent years around 900,000 visitors have participated annually, making the Open Monumentendag one of the Netherlands' premier cultural events."

Three of the lovely ladies arrived Friday evening....and wow! are they BIG! They are all pregnant, and so that is ALOT of beef on the hoof!!!
Today the sun was shining, and the birds were singing...typical Dutch summer day...one of 5 for the entire summer! BUT, because of all the rain, the grass is green and high, so my new 'houseguests' are happily munching away!
Hugs, Kathi0 -
