Good News Friday
I have some good news. Sence moving up here to Oregon I lost my home made tamale conection. For thouse of us raised on mexican food (I'm from San Diego) this really sucks. Well, Today I went to a yard sale and a little old mexican lady was selling home made tamales and Salsa. OMG they are sooo good!! I got her phone number and she said to call her anytime to place my order!!!

Yummy
Oh that sounds so good. Will have to call my son-in-law and get his mom to make me some. We love those.
Having steak and crab legs for dinner tonight. Baked potato, and salad too. Yummy - I'm hungry already.
Think hubby and I are going to make a campfire on the back deck (in the fire pit of course) and just sit and talk. Love doing that.

What a Tamale is ?
My family makes tamales and they are fantastic!! We make pork, chicken, bean cheese and Peppers....corn made into masa, with some spices, masa is then smeared on a corn husk then the meat is added, which consists of chile based sauce, put onto the masa, then rolled and steamed. This days there are different tamales that can be made, even into desserts, but I like the old ancient recipes.

You prefer escargots to tamales? Isn't that a little hasty? Perhaps you should try a tamale before reaching a final judgment.

Short trip
Saturday I am continuing work on an afghan I am crocheting. I do afghans, lapgans and baby blankets for vairous charities. It keeps me home and out of trouble!
Sunday, if weather permits, I am going to a family reunion a couple of hours away. This will be my first 'long' trip since surgery in March. Since I will be going alone, at least I can stop for rest breaks as I want.
Hope all here have a wonderful weekend. Now that fall weather approaches we can have a bit more outside time without the 100 degree temps of this past summer.

I can't match finding home-made tamales in Oregon.
I had my 3 monthly appointment with my oncologist yesterday. All okay. CEA is 1.2.
I found a cheap Zinfandel that I like: Ravens Wood.

Is 3D TV worth what you have to pay for it? I'd say no, but it's worth something.

Homemade Tamales-yum
O.K. you would think homemade tamales would be easy to find in Texas, but think again. Our family tradition is to have tamales on New Years Eve. Last year we had to buy them from the store because our Tamale Connection (Sal) had stopped selling them. So this year we will be looking for a new "supplier".
Other good news. My Son and Daughter-in-law's twins are progressing nicely. My son referes to his wife as a "double wide" he does mean it with great admiration because she is an amazing person. Actually she is a little peanut person so being pregnant with twins is a bit of a challenge.
I saw the oncologist two weeks ago and the CEA is 1.8-up a bit from 1.2 but still normal yippee. The lymph node they are watching was not mentioned in the ct scan so I think all is good. I had the dreaded 1 year colonoscopy on Thursday and all was normal except for diverticulosis in the sigmoid area-only means lots of fiber and water-great news!
I have also started really moving forward with my pattern and embroidery business that was put on the back burner September 3, 2009. It is great fun once again and how I have missed it.
Mr Handsome and I also celebrated our 30th wedding aniversy. I am glad he has put up with me for that long. We are very opposite from each other. He is the "turtle" and I am the hare, or others say I am Tigger and he is Eyeore-oh bother. So I guess it makes for a good relationship. He is a really awesome guy, I am a very lucky girl!0 -

Escargots???? Come on over, those idiot Frenchmen brought over the snails here to eat, and boy do they eat....... my daisys, my split leaf, my grape vines, my naked ladies, my birds of paradise, so come on over pepebcn, we might even get you to try a tamale, wrapped in a corn husk, made with pork or chicken or beef in a wonderful corn meal type wrap.0 -
