Fishing
A bit off topic but I guess it's part of living with cancer. **** unhooked from chemo (#30) on Thursday and this morning was up at 2:30 to go fishing with our neighbors. They went out 17 miles and he hooked a 20 lb Mahi Mahi. Tonight was our neighborhood fishing tournament party and he won for largest fish! Now we are blessed (or cursed) with the 3 foot tall trophy for the year. The winner has to add something to the trophy and pass it on the following year. The trophy currently has a plastic surfer, hula girl, a number of plastic fish, etc.... You can imagine that it is a thing of beauty.
Being on the water, hanging with great neighbors, enjoying the palm trees swaying in the moon light, all of that is sooooooooo good for his spirit.

Fishing as a cancer cure
Hi **** and Kathleen,
All the chemo I had for cancer, well I'm convinced it was fishing that got me thru cancer. Every week during chemo ,weather permitting, I would head out anywhere from 20 to 50 miles. Anzhemet were the best seasick tablets I ever had. My fishing mate Tom had double lung ca and I used to take him out every time I went,our oncologist didn't expect Tom to survive much more than eight mos ,he survived nearly three and a half years. I believe the fishing helped. I am heading off for a week in some remote country on friday. My soul is in serious need of some therapy. Tight lines Ron.0 -

Every winter here in Michigan George has a guy's ice fishing weekend up at the cottage. The only thing they do is look at the ice, then play poker and they have one of those trophies. It is an old bowling trophy with playing cards glued to it. I made George keep it in the closet and promise to pass it on to someone else. It is the ugliest thing I ever saw but funny at the same time.

Stories like **** fishing is what fighting this crap is all about. That is what makes our body’s warriors get off their **** and fight. I fished off Kona back in 81. Fantastic place.
I feel the same way as deer season is coming up.

There is an old movie whose name in English l think is , man,s favorite sport , with Rock Hudson ! LOL but was funny and l always wanted to know where was it shoot ,basically the name of the lake (wacapouggie in the movie) and where is it located, as per l see most of you are expert fisherman so maybe you can help , is just for fun!

It's the water
It is the water that is so relaxing. My family fishes. I understand the draw to the water. My grandma and I went out to fish when she had lung cancer. It made her happy. We had our little "birds and the bees" talk on the water. WOW that talk didn't turn out the way I expected. I was shocked, but I digress.
My mom and family went to the waters of my ancestors last week and she took chemo this week. Her white blood cell counts were up higher than they have been in a while.

I am so inspired at what you and **** continue to do as you battle this disease. I think it is wonderful to spend precious time with friends doing things we love thar are so not cancer! I even enjoyed cleaning my refrigerator today because for a few minutes I felt life was normal. I know normal is not a word we cancer families get to use very much,but doesn't it feel great!
