PCa Awareness Month, Conference & Events Sept. 2010

Glad to see the subject of Sept as PCa Awareness month was reposted. I originally posted info on August 24 on this subject that included links to a few PCa websites that are good preliminary educational resources. For that reason, I believe the info worthy of a repost:

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. For anyone interested in learnng more about PCa, the website www.UsToo.org has a September calendar of nationwide events posted on their site http://www.ustoo.org/Event_Calendar.asp
The September events, both charitable and educational use September, especially, as an opportunity to call attention to the need to raise funds for PCa research (by listing fund raising events) as well as listing events that educate and bring awarenss to this beastly disease.

The "Us Too" PCa website has a connection to the American Cancer Society (ACS) which also sponsors the Cancer Survivors Network--CSN (the site you are on now).

One of the September events scheduled is the annual PCa Conference put on by the Prostate Cancer Research Institute (PCRI), which also has a good educational website. The 2010 PCa Conference is Sept 11-12 @ Los Angeles, CA. A partial list of scheduled conference speakers includes: Stephen Strum, MD; Charles "Snuffy" Meyers, MD; John Mulhall, MD; Dean Ornish, MD, etc. More info is available at the PCRI website

Thanks for Sharing the information. Wish some of the activities were closer to me.
I agree that the word needs to be spread. So many people know very little about prostate cancer and how serious it really is.

    Thanks
Thanks for helping to get the word out. I sent a message to all of my co-workers advising them of Protate Cancer awareness month. Pointed out the number of annual diagnoses and the death totals attributed to this each year. Considering the numbers, research on this disease is WAY under-funded. The cause is far les publicized than many otehr cancers.

Building Climber A Stage 4 Cancer Survivor
"SpiderDan" aka the "Skyscraperman" -- the guy who climbed the Millennium Tower here in San Francisco yesterday (on Labor Day)-- was apparently trying to make a "statement" about the fight against cancer AND about anti-terrorism.

Don't know how the 2 go together and don't know how it would help either "cause," but whatever. You can see what he has to say about it on his blog at: http://skyscraperman.com/?page_id=932.
