When I went
for my chemo treatments (2006), the nurses would always check my feet and ankles for swelling so I asked one day, why? There response was it could be a sign of heart problems. Make sure your Onc is aware of your situation along with any symp(s) you may get.0 -
Yes, I had swollen ankles
Yes, I had swollen ankles and feet about a year and a half after treatment for rectal cancer. I don't know what caused it -- perhaps chemoradiation somehow screwing up my lymphatic system. I had to buy larger running shoes, but I worked through it. It went away after about 6 months. My chemo was merely 5FU + leucovorin for 10 injections.

yes
Swollen ankles and legs can be a significant sign of kidney problems. In my case it was probably caused by the fleet prep I had for ten of my scopes. The filters in my kidneys are damaged and they leak protein into my urine. In simple terms protein in the blood helps keep it in your veins. If your protein loss exceeds 2-3 grams a day(normal loss is 150mg) blood leaks thru the veins into the surrounding tissue causing odema(swelling and puffiness) . Kidney peoblems are easy to check for and your gp should be able to do it. It will eliminate one possible cause. Ron.0
