A fellow BC survivor!
I am both a stage one breast cancer survivor(2002) and a stage one lung cancer(2006) survivor. When I had bronchitis that just wouldn't respond to antibiotics, the doctors finally insisted on an xray. I kept telling them I had pneumonia. By the time we got around to the PET CAT scan three months later, I did have pneumonia. I also had lung cancer. I learned the hard way that one sign of lung cancer is that your respiratory infections just don't respond like they should to medicine and time. The kind of breast cancer I had was rather non-aggressive and I had negative nodes, which is why they did the lung biopsy. They actually sent me home thinking I had stage 4 breast cancer after the biopsy, but further testing indicated it was stage 1 lung cancer. That meant more surgery to remove a lobe rather than chemo. So if you are a breast cancer survivor, you may be facing lc or bc. No way to know without a biopsy. But then again, before you panic, realize that even nodes on a scan sometimes are NOT cancer. The lady who my surgeon operated on the week before my operation was a breast cancer survivor that he was sure had cancer, probably stage 4 BC, but turned out to have TB. Another acquaintence of mine turned out to have a different lung infection. It was nasty, but totally treatable with special antibiotics. Some things that are not cancer are better, some are as bad, and some are worse than cancer. So get to the best doctor you can get to and start running the tests. If you have been through breast cancer, you know it is better to know the enemy and begin the fight than to just sit and worry. Good luck!
