Tuesday I was scheduled for a PETscan, but insurance would not approve...they did approve a CT Scan...so had chest, stomach, pelvis area CTscan done Tuesday. WOW...it is Thursday and I just got a call from Onc nurse, to tell me that the results were 'normal' and all is well! I thought I would have to wait until next week for the results! So, I guess I should be very happy with this news. Still have to get through TAC#8 which is scheduled after the weekend............oh how I can see the light now and all of you there in the brightness waiting! Then, rads here I come............

Insurance sucks! But glad I have it. My onc said he would do a CT scan and if something didn't look right then PET scan. Maybe thats a way to get around insurance. Very happy all is well. Keep being "negative". Katz

I'm glad your CT scan came back normal. Sorry insurance wouldn't approve PET scan. Mine came back normal and my oncologist said I would have a CT scan in 4 months. (My PET cost over $4000!) At least now you can enjoy the weekend before you have treatment #8. At least it's the last one before going on to rads. So happy that you can see a little farther down the tunnel towards the light at the end!

    Cavediver,
    glad the Ct scans

    Cavediver,
glad the Ct scans were good and that they were so prompt in telling you. Good luck with TAC 8. They are a lot of ladies with lights shining to guide you through the tunnel, just a little farther. Prayers that the rads will be easier for you than chemo.

    Mama G,
I am be wrong and if

    Mama G,
I am be wrong and if I am someone will correct me but a ct scans are scans that they do of various areas of the body. They can see and diagnose many things with a ct scan. A PET Scan is used to look for areas that are cancerous. They inject a dye (glucose based I think) and if there are suspicious areas they light up. Cancer attract whatever is in this dye. It can show other things too. My sister's showed an area on her spine but it wasn't a cancer. PET scans are usually done for those that had node involvement or if there is concern about mets. They are very expensive and not used routinely. I did not have one because my cancer had not gone beyond my breast. Ct Scans are usually done first in any case and then if warranted a PET might be a follow up. A lot of this depends on tumor size, nodes, type of cancer, facility that is treating you and insurance approval. Hope this helps and more importantly, hope it is correct. Chime in ladies and give her your input, especially those that have had one.
