Happy Happy Day!!

I had to share this with you. As you probably know, my mom was just diagnosed with breast cancer last week, about 2 months after I was diagnosed. Thankfully mom faithfully has her yearly mammograms, because it was caught extremely early. She's going to the same surgeon as I did, and she met with my oncologist this morning to discuss what her recommended treatment would be with either surgical option (lumpectomy or mastectomy) - because she just wasn't sure what surgical route to take. Well, he told her since it was so small (less than half a centimeter) and so early, that she wouldn't need chemo, so she's going to have a lumpectomy some time next week (waiting on them to get it scheduled with the hospital), followed by radiation (of course unless her lymph nodes are involved -they're doing the sentinal node biopsy but oncologist told her he'd be very surprised if her nodes are involved) - also that she would probably be able to get the partial breast radiation where they implant it in her breast & it's there for 7 days or so. This is wonderful news -my mom is disabled with a spinal condition & severe arthritis, it's very painful for her, so I was so worried about her recovery. This was such a HUGE relief for me..since she was diagnosed I'd almost forgotten that I also have breast cancer (of course my bald head reminds me every time i look in the mirror....). Thanks to all who had such sweet words of encouragement, hope, and prayers for mom since we found out last Friday.
And, I bought a treat for myself the other day & it came in the mail today -it's a silk Christian Dior head scarf - and it looks & feels fabulous! I like my wig, but it's been really hot & humid here lately - i can definately wear this scarf out and not feel self conscious!! I hope you all have as great a day as I've had today
