hair loss
I'am currently getting Iriontecan and Vectibix. After about four rounds of this combo my hair started thinning. Didn't fall out in clumps but thinned alot. I finally buzzed it very short to save the drains in my house. I've gotten used to the buzz cut but don't like it much. I figure it will grow back eventually.

Pepe,
I think the hair loss
Pepe,
I think the hair loss is different for everyone - some don't lose any, some lose most + somer are in-between. I lost most of my hair on folfori + avastin, ao I got it cut very short. After ~ 10 treatments it began to grow back + now it is at a decent but short length. Take good care!0 -
hair loss folfox
They told me no hair loss on folfox, but when I was stopped at 7th round my hair started falling out about 1 month later. Don't know about your comb., but don't be surprised. The good thing was the day my hair started falling out my taste buds came back......and so did the hair eventually....not all bad...
I enjoy your posts, you have a good attitude. Wish you much luck...Pat0 -

hair loss from irinotecanpepebcn said:thank you both
Ladies!
The first time I received irinotecan, my hair just thinned and was not noticeable to anyone but me. When I restarted it after about a 6 month break, almost all of my hair fell out within the first couple months. While it is far from the worst thing that can happen, I hope that you are able to avoid it.0 -
hair loss here
although i didn't lose all of it, I did wind up shaving it to keep from having to pick it up all over the house and spending a long time in the shower picking it out of my scalp. I wore hats for the most part, although I did have a few wigs. At least you men can blend in more easily when you lose your hair than us women can!

Hey Pepe - No hair loss for me yet after one treatment of folfori. I told my kids if I start to lose my hair they could give me a mohawk and dye it any color they like. I've always wanted a mohawk.
That is the culprit in Folfiri that creates hair loss. My first time around ...which was 6 months of treatment of Folfiri with Avastin.... My hair thinned quite a bit but I didn't lose it all. After being in remission for 7 months I had to start Folfiri again and after just 2 treatments...lost ALL my hair. Pepe...thanks for the PM you sent me....very nice of you!

Nineteen months ago I was on Oxlyplatin and all my hair fell out after two treatments. In March my onc stopped it because oxy was killing me. Then in July he started CPT-11 and the rest follows. Funny thing is, he told me both times that the oxy and the CPT-11 would not make me lose my hair.
After only two treatments, I started looking like a mangy dog. I had to change pillowcases everymorning because the one I was sleeping on was full of hair. Our drain was full every morning. I would comb just one section of hair at a time, the clean the comb, etc. Finally my husband shaved it off for me and it seems to be cooler in the house now. I sometimes wear a hat, but mostly I'm just me. If other people want to make comments about me, that's their prerogative. My family thinks I have the best look bald head around and that is all that matters to me.

some just thin, some lose it
Hi,
I think everyone is different in whether they lose their hair or their hair just thins while on Folfiri. I have been on it a couple of different times. One time, my hair just thinned minimally. The other time, my hair thinned quite a bit over the first few treatments. It did get to a point both times on it where it would stop thinning, even when I continued getting the Folfiri.
So, it's hard to say whether it's just going to thin or whether you're going to lose it all or most of it. A lot depends upon how thick your hair was to begin with, too. I had quite thick hair. It's a lot thinner now (about 1/4 of what it was), but I don't have any real bald spots that show. I'm not on Folfiri now, but Gemzar and my hair has thinned more on this than it did when I was on Folfiri.
Good luck,

I was on old 5 FU
I was on old 5 FU. My head hair was very gray and thinning from just being an old guy.
It thinned out just a little more and then came back in much thicker and darker then before all this crap started. Now 100% of the hair down south came out. It also came back thicker and darker.
