I've lived in South Carolina most of my life. I've also had the wonderful privilege of traveling most of the earth. For me, SC ranks very high in most beautiful places. We have a wonderfully diverse coastline from 1st class beaches, to marshland, swamp, national forrest and barrier islands. We have a large collection of rivers. Many of which have been dammed to form lakes. The largest of which are lake marion and moultrie which are collectively known as Santee. In our mountainous upstate. Many rivers are dammed to create a chain of lakes. These lakes provide thousands of miles of lake coastline. The two crown jewels are Lake Jocassee and Lake Keowee. Often times Jocassee has crystal blue or clear waters. I've fished in several hundred feet of water and can see the fish on the bottom. The Appalachian mountains are very old and not very rugged so the views and reflections are very green with an occasional rock outcropping. Lake Keowee is down the river and mountain so the terrain is a little less rugged. The are plenty of uninhabited islands and white sand beaches that can be reached by boat. Lake Hartwell is the largest of this chain and is a good 45 minute boat ride from one end to the other running 65 mph and forms part of the border between SC and Georgia.

I absolutely love NC. For me the coast is better than SC when you add the outer banks, The mountains are more significant and diverse. The problem is the distance from one to the other. I can be at charleston harbor in 2.5 hours and deep in the mountains in less than 1, Impossible in NC. It's like a 6-7 hour drive from one to the other and there aren't as many big lakes in between. If the coast was closer to the mountains, I'd pick NC.
Those are brand new twin suzuki 300 HP four strokes that sip fuel and run awesome. I'm topping out at 65 kts WOT in the lakes. Cruising in 3 ft seas at 25+ very dry. She still runs 20+ in the heavy snot. Gettin' to the fish is priority 1. I'm getting 3.+ mpg WOT which is amazing. They are ridiculously quiet.
