Hubby came home today! Yeah!
I am so proud of how well he is doing after all the troubles he went through the first night. He has decided that even though they said regular diet, no restrictions, he will eat soft, non spicy things. I don't see how that could hurt.

MOST IMPORTANTLY...no evidence of tumor in the margins and all nodes negative for cancer. He did have 1 pos node with the first surgery, so he will still do chemo, but we are very happy regardless.

He asked me to ask what to expect now, post-surgery ( laparoscopic lower anterior resection) I think he's feeling too lucky because he is not feeling too bad. Maybe we're afraid the the worst is yet to come...lol..I don't know.....

We thank you all for your prayers and thoughts in the last week, made things better for sure!

My surgery was laproscopic as well...
Since the intestine has no nerve endings the only pain he should feel I think is the suture spots...I may be wrong but I was off the morphine the 2nd day and on Lortab for about 3 weeks....But I had my arse sewn shut , that makes a little difference in the ouch department..He should be good to go.....Just watch for fever..anything over 102* get him to ER...Im sure the Dr told you all of this...He most likely will do very well...BTW, Theres no place like home :)......Love to you both, Buzz

So very glad that all has gone well and you are both home now.

I think the only thing about 'not feeling too bad' is that he may be tempted to overdo things. Following docs orders until post op check up is best.

As far as food, whatever he feels like should be good, except things that are hard to digest like nuts and pop corn.

Give him best wishes, and now you can get some well deserved rest as well.

    Thanks guys! We already
Thanks guys! We already discussed the "don't do to much"..the man can build a house in a day with a butter knife and a staple gun..it's hard to keep him down, even at 62. (o: He told me to put a reminder sticky note on his forehead when I go back to work next week..haha

He still is questioning radiation. But he also questioned the surgery, was unsure if he was going to do it right up to the minute. I've found the best thing for me to do is listen, it's hard for me to wrap my brain around this all, I can only imagine how hard it must be for him. )o:

    You're all in my prayers!
