ng tube before surgeryBMGky said:Husband had feeding tube
Husband had feeding tube during radiation. Its location did not interfere with treatment. Not certain what you mean by "wear" a feeding tube. There are portable units that can be taken with you and utilized.
Did not have tubes during radiation but after radiation and before surgery lost too much weight and had to wear an nasogastric tube for a month before the surgery and then had the j tube for 3 months after surgery. There is a David White on the board who has been wearing a jtube for 3+ years because of nutrition problems. He knows a lot and is very helpful about j tubes. take care,

Radiation and feeding tubes
Ian has had a feeding tube since last October. He has gone through Chem and Radiation with it and it has been instrumental in allowing him to get through these treatments. If he is too nauseous he can use it for hydration and liquid medications too.0 -

How is Mr.Ian doing these days anyway? I've been meaning to call you, you know we get busy, LOL! Mikey is feeling real good right now and has been for several weeks. I'm hoping it will last and last and last. We're taking him on vacation week after next and we're all excited. He's on continual chemo. He takes 3 pills twice a day. He decided a while back to take out the G-tube as he's been able to eat pretty well, altho not as much as we think he ought to be. I hope that wasn't a bad decision.
I think of you almost every day and Ian is ALWAYS in my prayers, so are you.
Call me if you get a chance.

It was great talking with you today and I am glad to hear that Mike is doing better. Ian is still doing chemo,,,,oxiliplatin and irinotecan. We had good scan results in July but he is still struggling with eating but he is still willing. His 23 birthday is coming up on Tuesday and he is supposed to start another round of chemo then. What a hell of a birthday present. Thanks for keeping us in your prayers. You are also always in ours. I still owe you those photo's. How did Mike like the book? Were the resources of any use to him?
Don't worry too much about the G Tube as long as he is getting enough liquids.
Have fun on vacation.
Talk with you soon.

Hubby has J-tube.
Hubby has J-tube. It is a caregivers best friend. He also has a stent and can eat, but the tube is there for xtra nutrition and meds. I know no matter what happens during treatment or with the stent, he can be fed. I is not hard to care for and is not noticable under clothes.0
