Hello Kathy and Ralph Dear
Hello Kathy and Ralph
Dear Heavenly Father please be with Kathy and Ralph and their family as they have this surgery done. Please give the surgeons, drs, and nurses the knowledge they will need to make this a success. Please give them peace at this most difficult time in their lives. In Jesus' name, Amen. Please let us know how you all make out. We will be thinking and praying for you! And thank you William and Loretta, you have once again brought tears of joy to my eyes. You are some of the most loving, caring, intelligent, people I am proud to know!

Kathy and Ralph,
William has spoken so eloquently so I will just add that my prayers and thoughts are with you tomorrow during surgery. You are indeed fortunate that you can be in a place with such a skilled surgeon helping your dad remain cancer free.
Hugs and prayers,

Everything will be fine.
Kathy,
I was also operated at Memorial Sloan, however not by doctor Sarkaria but by Dr. Bains, although I did meet Dr. Sarkaria when he was covering for Dr. Bains, based on what I have heard and read he seems like a very good surgeon and I am sure your father is going to fine. I will also prey for him.
But what is also important here is the care that your father will receive at this institution, the nursing staff and the overall patient management is very good and he will be well take care of.
I am 33 years old now, but I was 32 when I was diagnosed with Stage II last October and it hit us like a rock when we heard the word Cancer, we had no idea where to go and what to do, but there is life after treatment and especially after Surgery. My surgery took place on April 5th and I was back to work full time in June. I am doing much better now and in spite of some occasional issue I am feeling much better.
Let me know if you have any questions etc.

Faith not FEAR..Things could not have gone better with my DAD!!!unknown said:This comment has been removed by the Moderator
As Bill suggested to me I let "Faith" instead of "Fear" ride in the front seat with me yesterday!!
My Dad's surgery took 10 hours to perform because Dr. Sarkaria had to work around the very large hiatal hernia my Dad had while attempting the minimally invasive esophagectomy. Dr. Sarkaria and his team at Sloan did a tremendous job and in the end was able to do the MIE procedure! The surgeon removed all the lymph nodes and was able to get clear margins (cancer free) on the diseased esophagus!
My father is having a little trouble taking deep enough breaths to take the ventilator out but I am not worried because I know he will do it later today. The nurse said that it is not unusual because he was under anesthesia for so long yesterday.
Please continue prayers and thank you so much for all your support!!0 -

I'm so glad the surgery went well, and he was able to get the MIE. Keep us informed about his progress. He remains in my thoughts and prayers.
