Another post from those fun-loving ladies over on the Inspire message boards....

For my first treatment I took a Xanex and a Vicoden. I am not big on meds but I was terrified. The nurse asked me what I had for breakfast, I told her Xanex and Vicoden, she said I needed to have something more next time. I said, "OK, next time I will take TWO Xanex!"

    A common occurance
I'll tell you briefly about an incident that happened to me this week. I returned back to my running club (I just love all the people there, they are so welcoming) Anyway there was a new lady there who said to me "I really love your hair cut" I smiled and thanked her. At the end of the evening she came over to me and said she owed me an apology. I asked her "Why?" "Well" she said "I have just been talking to someone who told me............. about you......... and I am so so sorry, I didn't realise, I am really sorry about ......." She was so uncomfortable I had to put her put of her misery. I said it was OK and I was fine. She was unable to use the word CANCER.

People really don't know what to say because they are terrified of causing an offence. I feel sorry for them and quickly try to make them feel better.

    You are so right
My mom runs into friends of mine who I may have not seen in a while or a long time and she encourages them to call me or visit. I don't hear from them and I know it is because they just don't know what to say or just don't want to see me this way. Once people see me they always say, you look so good. I figure they expect to see me emaciated or really sick looking and I don't. Other than "my cute haircut" I don't look any different than before.
