HI D
That's tough news to take - none of us want it in the bone as that makes the battle more complicated.
But, don't give in just yet. I'm sure radiation will be part of his protocol. As much as you don't want to do this, it will be of some benefit to attack the growth and to alleviate any pain that might develop.
Cancer has become a part of your life - but it has not taken it. Don't wave the white flag until (IF) it gets to that point. Stay focused on the options available and do them with as much gusto as you can. Please, do not go to the dark side - options = HOPE!
I am saddened by your news, but relieved that you will have a plan of attack - very hopeful for your outcome. Always good to hear from you.

So Understand
I am so deeply sorry for the news...I so understand what you are dealing with. My husband's cancer continues to grow and spread ...4 surgeries, two and a half years of chemo, three clinical trials (phase 1) and nothing has stopped it or even slowed it down. Know that I am here for you no matter the time of day or night. My email address is frankannap@netzero.com. I will be glad to send you my address and phone number if you think I can help in any way. We have to stick together...keep strong...take each day as a blessing and make wonderful memories. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Love ya,

ablation or stereotactic radiosurgeryAnneCan said:I am sorry to hear this. I
I am sorry to hear this. I am glad your onc is on this + looking for all possibilities of treatment. Warm thoughts are heading your way.
There is a new bone ablation treatment that should be able to wipe those out, without altering his current treatment. RFA is available here in the states, as are embolization and cryoablation. There is a new treatment in China for bone mets that is showing fantastic results. It is High Intensity Ultrasonic Ablation. Pretty much every hospital in the US is equipped to perform this treatment but the FDA says it will be 3-4 years before it even allows trials in the US. The treatment is performed with the same machine on the same setting the machine uses to destroy fibrous cysts and kidney stones. But I think the treatment is too cheap and will cost hospitals millions of dollars so they are postponing the cancer trials. A trip to china might be in order0 -
Sorry
I'm sorry to hear about the bone mets. I hope you find a trial that is the right one to make the difference for him. There seem to be more and more options all the time, and hoepfully one of them is right for him.0 -
me too -- AND
I was diagnosed with bone mets in early May. I have several, all small. Had a biopsy on one to confirm met. I'm on chemotherapy (Xeliri plus Avastin). Also on Zometa (bone strengthener). I was asympomatic (still am). Chemo is going well. Side effects minimal. PET after 4 cycles shows all the mets had shrunk and become less active (in PET terms). Yea!!
Bone mets sounds so scary. But so did lung met, when I had that. I'm planning to keep plugging away -- staying one step ahead of the miracles of modern medicine!
