Ascending Colon Cancer post-op

When I had the colonoscopy in April the gastro doctor stated that he found one cancerous polyp and was not sure if he removed all of it and that I would need surgery. On June 21 I had the resectioning surgery on the ascending colon. It was determined that the gastro doctor did remove the entire cancerous polyp & according to the oncologist's report I received yesterday 20 lymph nodes were removed & biopsied. They were non malignant. The oncologist stated that "chemo would not be of benefit to me." (Until I read the report I did not realize the lymph nodes were removed.)

My question is when I eat something that I assume is adversely affecting me my right side aches. Has anyone encountered this problem after this type of surgery? To counteract this I take Tums or a Rolaids. Either of these seem to relieve the ache.

When I have a question I really don't know who to call, i.e., the surgeon, gastro doctor, the oncologist, or my primary care physician. Who would you recommend I contact?

You all have been very helpful to me in the past and I would appreciate your opinions.

Thank you,
Terry

    Good to see you back
right sided pain and anemia were two pre cancer warnings, but you sound like you have done all the right things, it could be anything. I would definely see primary or onco just to be sure you are doing the right things. Maybe some antibiodics for something is all that is needed. Sounds like you had a good prognois, good to see you posting again. Pat

    Guessing
I am thinking the ascending colon is right side ...scar tissue may be causing the pain issues by partly blocking the colon and depressing against the intestine....in any case I would have it checked out soon, I think even an exray would show it but its only my opinion...Love and Hope to you........Buzz
