My first Hair cut .. I've waited 6 months since hair started to grow back ---
Getting back to normal, now if only I had more energy .. that's next on my agenda .. I am sure, or so my chemo brain saids so.
Just being happy with the little things life has to offer me.

So good to hear you're getting back into the swing of things!
My hair is only about 1/4" long and going every which way. Can't wait for some length. Funny--all my other body hair is having no problem growing like crazy--even in places I NEVER had hair. What the h?

yay!
Nothing says getting back to 'normal' like sitting in 'Sally's' chair, eh? So happy for you. Next time, foils, baby!
Energy, takes time. Exercise and time. It'll come!
Much Love,

I'm right behind you. This
I'm right behind you. This short grey hair is starting to get unruly. so do I go short like it was a few months ago, or hope for a slight tweaking. My hubby is trying to convince me to stay grey, but now that it is getting longer I'm not so sure.
Actually energy is probably first on my agenda, the energy I still dont have. I am walking and swimming but not every day. I read everywhere that exercise helps. How do we pace ourselves? All this is so new to me. I think I'm back to normal, then bam, fatigue hits, cant sleep, and my arthritis in my leg and knee starts up. Some of it has to be getting older and some of it, could be a year of surgeries, chemo, infections, rads and etc. If there is any etc.
Today I did indulge in a not so little thing. I had 2 donuts for breakfast and now I'm ready for a nap but I am smiling as I lick some sugar off my lips.0 -

I had mine cut a few weeks ago. Could not believe I was having it cut after waiting so long for it to even grow. They say it has to be cut in order to grow. Glad things are going well for you.

I do seem to be getting better by the week, but some days .. I just can't find the energy to climb the stairs at home. I push myself and pray!
I can not go back to my gym due to my recent staph infection, 5 day vacation - oops I mean hospital stay, and emergency surgery to removed my right infected with staph expander. GEE, I want to scream and kick - no need, as I don't have the energy! hahaha
Tuna Sandwiches, fresh fruit and Football on my Agenda tonight ..
I Love and Cherish you all,

Nope not going to do it , Haircut Thing!!
My hair is full of ringlets and you should see silly me trying to straighten my bangs, in wally world the other do lady said i like you perm, i said gee thanks it's called chemo curly and i thought she was going to sallow her dentures!!!0 -
Can't wait to see your new do!
I was supposed to get my first haircut last night too, but my hairdresser had to cancel because her mom was sick. :-( I rescheduled for Tuesday night.
I'm going to ask her about some highlights also, but mine's probably too short as well. I don't have any more gray than I had before, but one thing I did get that I didn't have before was curls! It's gotten to a length now where I just don't quite know what to do with it - it's not long enough to try to straighten out at all, but the curls don't want to go in the same directions, and parts of my head are curlier than others, so it's been a bit of a challenge.
We'll have to compare our hair (or hats, or lampshades) next Saturday!0 -

I wonder why our hair comes back so different. I think all of us come back gray know matter what our age is.0 -

because our hair folicles are normally round and chemo (damages maybe?) and after chemo they become oval and the hair changes. But after a year or so (I'm told) it returns to normal.
I've had my hair colored twice and in a couple of weeks I will be due a third time. Lots of curls, more on the left side of my head and longer, and shorter and not so curly on the right. Back is pretty thick and curly...but the top is the shortest (longest about 3") and still very thin. I do a "comb over" and it helps a lot. I'm ready for a trim to even up my sides, some off the back too.
Natly I too flucuate between energy and not. During this really hot weather the last 3 or 4 weeks I have been too hot to go outside durng those days and I have a loss of energy and I find myself down in the dumps. Tears happen easily and over nothing. Maybe I keep thinking about this time last year.... treatment ended in Dec. but I was so sick it took a few months to feel good. I should be jumping up and down with joy but right now I'm not. My bloodtests are all good, had a bone scan and it was normal. Guess I'm just sick of the hot weather and wearing a bra!
Anyway, there certainly are a lot of us in the same time with our hair. Fun comparing notes isn't it?

I had my hair cut and colored in June (I think) it was short but she trimmed to make it look like I intended it that way, at first I was bummed to have my Hair cut at all, but it did look so much better. My hair afterwards is growing so much faster. and I usually have very slow growing hair. I had it colored as it came in very dark, but a really mousy color. I cried when I couldnt have foils yet, thats coming though. My hair is curly. I use a small amount of pomade and it makes the curls look really good. I have to say it is so easy to have curly straight hair, (had blondish, straight before) just wash, pomade and I am good to go.
My energy was so much better until I had the zometa. I found I paced myself, and when I started to get an inkling of fatigue, I stopped. I babied myself, but it worked. pushing myself did not rebuild me, it depleted me. then I was able to slowly increase activity. then it seemed each week I noticed bigger improvements. I have found exersize really helps, and try to do it even if I dont feel like it. getting better has been hard work LOL.0 -

I have had so many compliments on all my curls. It's funny looking at people when I tell them it's my new hair compliments of chemo. I have only had my hair trimmed and I don't know if when I will ever cut my hair again. I am just enjoying having it back. Have fun with your new hair and wear it like the champs you all are!0 -

Don't let your hairdresser tell you your hair's too short for foils, or that she can't do highlights!
4 months after my last chemo, I had my first real haircut, and was desperately wanting to look more like ME again -- I've always loved having highlights.
My hairdresser has had a lot of clients go through chemo, and is very sensitive to women going through this. She brought another hairdresser over to "consult," and together they came up with a way to do highlights without foils -- she just dipped a wide-tooth comb in the coloring solution, and presto! Gorgeous, perfect highlights -- worth every penny for the boost they gave to my mood and my self-image.
So, VickiSam and Cindy: If you ever want to take a trip to the Valley, I know my hairdresser would be happy to help you out, and to tell your hairdressers what they can do with their appalling lack of creativity!

unfortunately gaining energy is a very slow process. Swimming is good, but still everyone please take it easy. You will get there just be gentle to yourself. Acupuncture really helped me with fatigue and insomnia. I am still cutting my hair very short.
Have a nice weekend,
