edited March 2014 in Colorectal Cancer #1
as per Reuters.......

"An ancient Chinese brew may help reduce the intestinal damage caused by chemotheraphy given to colon and rectal patients,...."

Cancerous mice were treated with irinotecan and then given PHY906," the laboratory formulation of a 1,800 year-old Chinese formula containing peonies, a purple flower called skullcap, licorice and fruit from a buckthorn tree."

The lead author is quoted :"Irinotecan reduces tumor growrth by itself but if you combine with PHY906, it will further reduce tumor growth."

Article just posted, FYI, at nature.com/news as well as eureakalert.org

Lead author, however, has a stake in company that will profit from this formula.

    What's this?

It's amazing how the least expensive things can manage to become
expensive drugs overnight. The individual herbs for this formula
usually cost around $5 per pound. A pound will provide three doses
a day for over a month.

    ----------------------------------------------
    Huang Qin Tang

    Ingredients:

    - Huang Qin (Radix Scutellariae Baicalensis)
    - Bai Shao Yao (Radix Paeoniae Lactiflorae)
    - Zhi Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis)
    - Da Zao (Fructus Jujubae)

    Preparation
    DECOCTION: 25 g/litre until 40 cl remain.

    Administration/Dosage schedule
    DECOCTION: Take 3-4 times daily.
    ----------------------------------------------

There are very specific amounts of each ingredient that would
be used for a decoction. It is cooked (boiled) in a pot of 9 cups
water, and simmered down to three cups, for the three cup a day
dosage. It can be made with 6 cups simmered to 2 cups, and taken
twice a day, but three a day can prevent indigestion.

There is absolutely -no- TCM formula that should be taken
without a competent TCM doctor or herbalist you can call on
for help if you have a problem. These are medicinal strength herbs
and carry all the dangers of western medicine, if they are taken
improperly, in excess, or for the wrong ailment.

I have previously listed herbs that are known to kill cancer
cells specifically, and help build the immune system. The same
rule: TCM or Herbalist on hand, applies.

This formula is generally used along with chemo to offset the
chemical's side effects. Both my oncologists did not accept TCM
or it's herbs as being of benefit, and refused to allow anything
other than mainstream medicine to offset the chemo.

Check with your oncologist first, before attempting to do other than
what they recommend. Although the herbal formulas are used in other
countries along with (adjunct to) chemotherapy, physicians in this
country are prone to mainstream medicine exclusively.

Also.... (if it matters?) Herbs that are naturally grown have a
composition that -can not- be reproduced in a factory. Like natural
vitamins from natural fruit and veggies, there are enzymes and
proteins, etc, that are not generated in a factory, nor can they be
reproduced as nature has made it.

    Good health!

I drink herbal teas instead of my cup of coffee in the morning and have another cup at night. I just ordered some matcha tea. .

I couldn't post the link but an article I ran across is

Health Benefits of Matcha - Green Tea Powder92

I want to go to an acupunturiest.
