    arimidex
Started ARimidex two weeks after completing my radiation treatment. I am on it for the five year course. I read last night that in some cases, it is taken for 7 or more years. My Med onc mentioned this as a possibilty when she first spoke to me about the Arimidex saying that at this time, the research suggests five years although future investigations may support a longer course of this treatment to decrease the likelihood of the estrogen positive cancers from returning.
As to your question about the rate of reoccurrence in those taking the hormone receptor blockers, I wonder how many of those reporting reoccurrences are really reoccurrence of the same cancer or a new cancer occurrence.

    Triple negative BC
Since I have triple negative breast cancer I did not take any hormone drugs. They would not have helped my cancer type. Now that I have recurrance I will be looking for a new regimen to stop the new tumor growth.

Breathe, pray, rest, relax, smell the roses, one day at a time. MJ

    Triple negative also

    Came Back 3 Years Later
I had conralateral mastectomy for 0 Stage DCIS. Lymph nodes clear. Therefore, no radiation or chemo required. Very rare that three years later I had recurrence on scar of right breast. Now invasive. No chemo. 31 days of radiation. Two months after radiation, began Arimidex. So far, so good.
