Human Papillomavirse
Has anyone heard anything about this study? Are their others who's mother had ovarian cancer? Human Papillomavirse they think it was carried from birth and something in his genes reacted?
Is this off base to talk about?

dr mentioned it
Hi,
My onc dr has mentioned to me when I keep asking him why so many young people are getting this he mentioned the HPV virus but did not mention genetic link. They don't seem to be printing this anywhere maybe it is in the medical journals but I am hoping they will make their research known. It is frightening how many people in your family have suffered from throat cancer and ovarian cancer. The longer we live the more they will find out and maybe get a vaccine. take care and thanks for the info.

They did a buccal swab, since my husband did not smoke or drank and his mother had died from cancer. They doctor said they think there is a link to the H.P.V. My husband asked him why ? He told the doctor his mother died in 1963 , but they seam to think that something happened in the birthing process that past the gene to my husband. He asked why did it take so long to became cancer, the doctor said that is what they are trying to find . What triggers it. It is being reseached In Ann Arbor Michigan , or at least that is where they did the test at. I wonder about this too. I find it sad but interesting. If it is a virus would seam they could find a cure.
My mother had three brothers all died from cancer, two of her six sisters. I don't know what type but they the males were all lung cancer. That was in the 1980's . My mother died o Staff infection for surgery for Colon cancer. I had two sisters and 6 brothers, ages 72 to 52 none had had cancer or died from it (yet).
So I think you can see why I wonder about this. I know my husband had signed some papers for the Buccal swab test I will see if I can find them and is if it gives a name of the research.
I am sorry this is hard to write I am not very good at writing and this is harder yet .
How are you doing? I have been trying to keep up with your post.0 -

Hi Zinnie,
I am doing very well, feel more like my old self more than ever, slowly gaining weight but keeping it on finally. I wish they would do family studies, your husband's family medical history is stunning in the many cases of throat and ovarian cancer. There are other people on who have genetic links. Kim's uncle just died recently and her father is successfully battling it now. Will let you know if I find out any more. I am happy there is research going on, especially for the young ones getting this disease. take care, prayers always,

I was not sure if I should post about this, I don't want to worry people or cast out the wrong information. But I think we need to know more about what is happening. I know my husband does not smoke or drank. I dd not know his mother but once was told she drank a little and smoked. My husband's siblings are ok. He has a brother and two sisters . As far as I know they are fine.
But I do know genetics play a big role in peoples life. Donna if you want to email me my email is woody@i2k.com
Greg has not had a problem with eating the first time with the chemo everything taste smelled alful for about two months. This time it is not effecting him . He is just tired and weak. But other than a little hair loss (so far) He looks like he did after the first Chemo when he lost 50 pounds. But he had the pounds to share. He is gaining a little. but not much. He does not like sweets much and no chocolate at all. He just turned 57 this month.

I was surpised to say the least about HPV. I have been reading all about it. They asked these question to him. When he was doing the Beccul swab , they gave him a 20 pages questions to file out. He said he did not really understand why they were asking such personal questions. But they were testing him because he does not met the standards ( smoking & alcohol) .
The Docotor did say that they were looking at all possible reasons that a person would get this type of cancer. Since his mother died of Ovarian cancer So he was included in that study. This is only one of the test studies he has took part in.
Thanks, William I will look at these.
My husband has t4n1mo laryna Squanous cell cancer.

This is what I am talking about, Greg never smoked or drank, I would not go so far as to say he was a health nut or runner, He is a couch potato. But he ate fish, giving the choose between Cookies and Veggies he would take the veggies everytime. He never had a sweet tooth as we would say. He loves fish and veggies. We have been married 36 years He was never sick except the once in a while back hurts type of he worked to hard. He worked 30 years with the Telephone company never had a sick day until 2008 he got what he thought was a flu bug and started losing his voice.I have a peronal thought, where he worked they are the little buildings that hold equpiment , I know they sprayed for bugs and that would get him sick, Coughing and gagging, but they stopped or so we think.
I do not know about his grandparents, a little, His father's family came from Poland, His Grandmother on that side was in her 80s his Grandfather maybe 70 when he passed. The other side they came fro Croatia His grandmother Justina died in her 50s but his grandfather Micheal died in his 80s. All his Aunts and uncles on both sides seam to be healthy but died of heart problems but in their 60-70s , I do not think it was cancer. Will have to check.
So the question is why some people? His spread to his lungs. So everyday I keep looking for a hope , possible reason . Anything I can to prolong his life in a best way.0
