I have a question and need your thoughts. I spent 5 days in Jamaica and spent alot of time in the Carribean Sea, an the entire time I was in Jamaica, my feet did not hurt. So My neigbor suggested it might be the salt water that made me feel better, so I am thinking the old fashioned Epsom soak remedy to see if this works! Anyone else have ideas on this!

    Salt Water ? !!!
Interesting, going to give it a try but there are probably some sea salt bath crystals for sale some place if the Epsom salt doesn't do the same. Do you only have neuropathy in your feet and if yes, did it show up post treatment?

    Yep, the neuropathy showed
Yep, the neuropathy showed up about a month after my last chemo treatment. I going to give this a try tonight and see if it helps. Other than the heat and humidity, which I have here at home, this is the only ting different I can think of.

    Walking barefoot in the sand
is a kind of massage for your feet. I find that massage has helped my residual neuropathy a great deal.

I also find that when I'm in the Caribbean, the scaly patches on my feet temporarily clear up (not related to cancer). It's the only time I have smooth, soft feet. Could be the seawater (I spend lots of time in it snorkeling), could be the sand.

I don't know if it was the Caribbean sea that did, it, but I don't care, I'm telling my husband, I need to go to the Caribbean for a cure. LOL.
Not to burst a bubble, but it could have been the soft sand that contoured to your feet which caused the lack of pain, not hard soles on pavement or hard wood floors that we deal with in our daily lives.
At any rate, I would claim it was the Caribbean sea and plan on living there for the rest of my life if I were you!!!

    I remember feeling relief
I remember feeling relief from neuropathy in my feet when I would go in the ocean, just the regular old Atlantic. I also had lots of foot messages, I even tried accupuncture. I thing it all helped, but the best thing that helped was time. All the feeling did come back in my feet, but it took lots of time.
I'd try anything that made me feel better!

    Hmmm
I was just at the ocean, I should have brought a jug of water and salt back! I always give myself a good sand rub when I go to the coast, it's the best pedicure!

    Exercise helps mine a lot.
Exercise helps mine a lot. I'm 5 years out and NED, but still have neuropathy in my hands and feet. When I'm busy I forget about it, so I would just suggest that maybe the exercise and activity may attribute to its absence or maybe we all just need to go to the beach. I like that idea!

Hi Kathy, I just had a visit
Hi Kathy, I just had a visit with a Chiropractor today and I am beginning treatments for my back and nervous system. He seems to think that he can help give me some relief with his treatments - as I have pretty bad nueropathy in my feet and some in my hands. I will keep everyone posted it this works. I feel really good except my feet... so I am willing to try it! Best to you. Jean

    Neuropathy
Vacation on a secluded beach....I'm in whether or not it helps the neuropathy. This seems to be a pretty common complaint post-treatment. I had some issues during treatment but was surprised by what kicked in a month after treatment stopped. My fingers felt swollen and numb and my hands cramped waking me up at night and then the feet kicked in. First the toes and then extending almost to the heal. 8 months post treatment my hands are getting better but maybe I'm just getting use to them although haven't noticed much cramping but the feet are another issue. Sometimes it feels like a bee is stinging me which isn't a problem unless you're driving a car and it's your right foot. My onc said he could put me on some meds to help but figured he pumped full of enough drugs and figured I could live with the neuropathy concentrating more on staying NED. Know everyone's body is different though. My surgeon's nurse said it would get better but it might take years and my onc said my hands would be back to normal by November and my feet 50% better. I want his crystal ball and his 5 yr prediction but only if it's good. Regards to all.
