Hi Stimpy!
I am only about 2 years out, but I rarely experience diarrhea. When I do, it's almost always related to eating the wrong foods. I find that I must stay pretty consistent with what I eat and if I stray too far, then I have problems. I'm sorry that you are having such severe diarrhea and have been unable to get any relief.0 -

Thank you for you kind words. I know a male that had colon cancer that is experiencing the small problem as I am. I want my diet very carefully, doctors put me on an Atkins type diet & it seemed to help at first. Now the urgency is back. That is a problem too along with the diarrhea.0 -

Congrats on being a 10 year
Congrats on being a 10 year survivor, that was wonderful to hear (I'm not finished with treatment yet so hearing this is very reassuring). However, I am also now learning that there are many side effects that happen over the course of recovery and I guess I will have to learn that the normal I used to know will never be the normal I will get to know. I hope that they find out what is causing this for you and help you. For awhile I was in the hospital with severe runs and they gave me Opium. That seemed to help a lot but I think mine was more chemo related than anything. Be well, Marilyne0 -

Hi Stimpy,
Have you ever heard of dumping syndrome? My mom has this and now takes medicine for it. At first they thought it was IBS irritable bowel syndrome, but now they think it might be dumping syndrome. I hope you get some answers from your drs. I am so happy to hear of a 10 year survivor of anal cancer, and good for you. I wish you well. Lori0 -

Not at all. The doctors at the Cleveland Clinic put me on an Atkins type diet. No bread at all. Mostly protein foods such as chicken, beef, seafood. No veggies so to speak, they contain too much fiber for my diet. I am not permitted any salads, which I dearly love. I was very strict at first, but added some items back into my diet such as baked potatoes. If I eat pasta I eat wheat pasta. I can not tolerate items such as ice cream, which I love. I pay for it if I consume it. They also said to have Activia 5 days out of 7. They also advised that I eat some applesauce (I use unsweetened) and one tablespoon of pectin in it & mix well each morning. I also eat a banana most everyday.0 -
