Weekend blues
I was hoping you might have some thoughts about getting through the weekend. I find my husband watching me all the time. He says that I am scaring him.
Tues will be here soon and the start of more to come. I know you have all gone through this, but I find some days harder and today is one of those days.
We went out to do a bit of shopping and now I am so tired. Being so fatigued all the time really gets to me. I wanted to bake a cake, but don't have the energy. Maybe later..
I hope your weekend is peaceful. All of you have been so wonderful.

Know how you feel...
Hi Lisha,
For the first month and a half after I was diagnosed(June & July) it seemed like all we did was sit home and stare at the walls. We cancelled our vacation and sort of isolated ourselves to home. Not now...we decided to hell with it, and now we call up friends to play cards, or invite them over for a BBQ. Tonight we went to our best friends house and had a wonderful BBQ. I was tired when they called at 3:00 and invited us, but instead of letting my fatigue get the better of me, I said to my hubby..."lets go"! I'm so glad we went...the food was great and the company even greater, and yes...it WAS an effort to clean up and go, but well worth it. If you don't feel up to visiting with friends,or entertaining at home, at least get out together and go for a drive once in awhile. Please don't let this cancer isolate you to home. Been there done that and it isn't a healthy way to be. Hubby and I have started palying cards or board games together....something we quit doing after the boys left home. It's a nice way to spend quality time together. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you and Tuesday will be here before you know it!

Good point, Sue about keeping busy and preoccupied with activities. I find that being with people helps a lot. I need others to give me a push because I have a tendency to wander off in mind and stare at the walls. I will ask my hubby to play backgammon - something we had not done in years!

Hi Liz,
I still wander off at times...more often than I'd like to admit. My most worst time is when my hubby goes to bed. I'm a night owl and he's an early to bed kind of guy. For some reason, late in the evening I start thinking about my cancer, the boys, my hubby, the grandkids and before I know it I'm a weepy mess. It doesn't last long, but it still happens at least once a day. Cancer is a scary thing and there's no two ways about it. It is what it is, and like Vinny said..."it just plain SUCKS"!!! I can usually wipe back the tears, blow my nose and salvage the rest of my evening, and in a way, I think it's ok to have our "breakdown moments". I can't imagine keeping these feelings all bottled up...ya know? Finding little tricks to cope, comes with time, and I don't think there's a right or wrong way to deal with cancer. Sharing our feelings here is definetely a positive way of coping...at least for me it is. Hang in there...we are all in this together!

Hi Sue,
Well, after feeling so down and so so tired, Yours and Vinnys kind words have inspired me. I just put the angel food cake into the oven. My husband had to make a late night run to the store for the cake flour, he is wonderful. I have been wanting to bake ever since I read about Vinny and his creme brulee. Thanks to you both for making me feel better.
I hope the cake turns out okay, this is a new receipe for me. I don't have much of an appetite, but I know my husband will love having cake on the counter....
Thanks again for all your kindness.
Lisha
PS I wish I could ship you all a piece of cake......0 -

Oh lordy Lisha...my best friend sent me home with 4 huge chocolate cupcakes with an inch of chocolate iceing on them. I ate one at her house and ate another one about an hour later when we got home! I don't usually have a big appetite, but today I out-did myself. Steak...baked beans...corn on the cob and those yummy cupcakes! My tummy feels like it's going to pop!...ha! Your hubby will love the angel food cake, no matter what it turns out like! He sounds like a pretty good guy to me! Enjoy your cake...force yourself to eat some...every pound will help when you start treatment! Glad your spirits are a little lighter...thats what we are here for you know? Stay peaceful!

Ahhh - your words bring me a feeling that I can breeze through over the waves of the ocean. That is ok to feel good and bad. Thanks, Sue!
