I am not on medicare yet but
I am not on medicare yet but I know that the U of M is billing my insurance over $17,000. for each time that I get Herceptin. I have to take it every 3 weeks until Dec 10.
Chemo drugs are very expensive. Thank God I have good insurance and have met my catastrophic deductable for the year. I don't have to pay anything now.

Cost
Taxotere, Taxol, Nuelasta, all seem to run around $17000. Prior to health care reform, I understand that the cost was below $10k....with the Health care reform and cuts to medicare and pharmacuticle Co's taking affect 1/01/10...cost skyrocketed.
On 01/01/2010 part of the medicare cut was $1.4 billion in cuts for chemotherapy treatments.0 -
HERCEPTIN
I'VE BEEN GETTING HERCEPTION SINCE LAST OCT., FIRST, WITH MY OTHER CHEMO DRUGS, AND NOW, JUST HERCEPTIN, I HAVE 3 TO GO. I HAVE MEDICARE AND PRIVATE INSURANCE, SO FAR, I HAVE HAD TO PAY VERY LITTLE, EARLIER THIS YEAR, I HAD TO MEET BOTH OF MY DEDUCTABLES AND MY BILL $345.00, THIS PAST MONTH, MY COPAY WAS 19.00. SO YES, BETWEEN MEDICARE AND MY BC/BS, THEY PRETTY MUCH PAY FOR THE HERCEPTIN.....0 -
