Sorry Guys
As promised I would update as soon as the results were in...I do have another tumor. This one appears to go from the left tonsil into the soft palette. The ENT wanted it to be that the spot showing on the PET was hot from my rads but no such luck. The radiologist confirm another mass and when scoped, this new mass is visible as soon as the scope leaves my sinus cavities. The good news was that the original tumor has shrunk and appears to be dying but this new one seems to be growing as fast as the first. This one also appears to be in the nodes. Surgery is being scheduled for Friday as the doctor wants to go in and remove as much as possible and get the biopsies done so that we can decide the best course of treatment. My family and I want to personally thank each of you for prayers and support and words of encouragement. We know we are not alone.
For the newbies coming on here and reading this...DO NOT let this discourage you. Keep up the fight and think positive. Fighting this is like riding a roller coaster. Full of ups and downs. I might be down but I ain't out. I fought this once and I can do it again.
I think the hardest part of this was having to tell everyone I have to start over. Poor Joey..he is so strong but I could hear his voice when I broke the news and I think it broke his heart. But he said we will prevail. We have battled for 2 years and he would rather we find this out now instead of finding out a month or so down the road when I couldn't swallow or something. My kids were devastated to say the least but they are strong and are trying to coordinated schedules for being with me..hard to do with school starting and Max..well he isn't moving out for school. He said he will just commute so he can be with me while everyone else works. But I told him that he will go to college and I expect no less that what his GPA was at his high school graduation. His response was gee mom thanks..lol.
As always I will be faithfully staying in touch thru here and the chat. I love you all and thank you.
Debbie

Dang It
Debbie, sorry to hear about the new obstacle. I'm glad it was spotted and you are proceeding with surgery. As you said, letting it go would have caused problems that can now be avoided. I was touched by your concern at having to tell your family. You're a champ. You're doing everything right to keep the fight, and as I know you know, you're lucky to have such a caring family around you.
My prayers for you, keep posting

Bleep!
Debbie,
Like I said before - this just means extra innings for this game. I'm sorry you have to keep fighting, and glad you have great weapons to fight with. This is not a loss - just a postponed win. So frustrated for you. And resentful. Time to dig in again. Hope you can pig out until Friday's surgery. Hoping it goes well, and your recovery is boring. Let us know.0 -

So Sorry
So sorry that you have to fight another battle. You are tough and an inspiration to me. I have a son who was also in the class of 2010. The picture that you had posted at your sons graduation was a big force in my going to my sons H.S. graduation (bucket and all).
You know you are surrounded by love - stay positive.0 -

Let me join in the chorus: I too am sorry you have to battle the beast once again.
But if attitude makes any difference -- and I believe it makes a lot of difference -- you're going to kick cancer's a*s to the curb.
May God bless and keep you.

You're an inspiration your positive attitude gives me a positive role model as I just begin my journey. I meet with my surgical oncologist to discuss the results of my tonsil biopsy Thursday and hope that I can learn from the courage you have shown.
I pray your surgery goes well. Thank you for the blessing you are to all of us on the discussion board.

Hi all,
As I sit here reading all the outpouring of love from all you, I have tears falling on my laptop. I met with the onco today and it appears I actually have two tumors...one above in the palette and one in the tonsil area. she has already set it up for me to get fitted for the (horrors) mask from hell on Monday the 23rd. I will find out about the chemo next week. My onco said this needs to be hit hard and fast as these tumors were not visible 7 weeks ago.
I want to share a funny story with all of you. Everyone comments on my attitude and I wanted to explain where I get it. I am of scotch-irish-french descent. Apparently I was the most bull headed kid growing up. My family says if I had a notion to do something I did it regardless of whether I was punished or not. Apparently I would take my punishment and then proceed to do whatever it was I was doing to begin with. My nick name growing up?..Johnny Bull..lol. So when I put my mind to it, I guess there is no stopping me. I also credit my father (gone 11 years now after a 3 year battle of colon cancer). My father never gave up. Even with a full colonostomy and wearing a bag, he continue to play softball and bowl right up till 6 weeks before he lost the fight. O by the way..did I tell you I was red headed? LOL.
So I am sitting here amazed with all of your positive attitudes and well wishes and prayers and am very thankful for finding you all. You all have given me strength with your positive attitudes. Pam..this game may have gone into extra innings but I will win. Glenna, Scam, Greg, Hondo, Kimba,Joel,Hal ...all of you. God bless you and know you are all in my prayers. Debbie..I took note of your number and be prepared..I will call. I wish we could all get together and meet as this would be most awesome to me. But for now I will be content to "see" you all this way. Hugs to all you.
Debbie
ps..Dragon, you will get thru this..Please let me know how everything goes.0
