    Family and friends
I love to do so much but mostly now I love to be with my family and friends. BC I would have 17 things going at once. Now not so much. Since cancer I found I love to cook. I liked it before but now I wake up thinking about the next kitchen adventure. I found a fun little thing at Williams Sonoma. It is a "pocket pie maker". It only cost about $10.00 and I got mine on sale for $7.00. Mr Handsome did not even blink when I suggested I get one, he just took it right up to the counter. I love making pocket pies, he loves eating them.

I love to be out doors. I'm from Colorado and miss the mountains. I miss spending warm summer days by the river, feeling the cool (cold actually) water and seeing the animals. In Texas we don't have what Colorado offers, but I still like to garden and see what I can actually make grow here. It is a bit of a challenge because what the bugs don't get the heat will burn up. Today I went out and thinned the basil garden. It smelled so good. Almost asked Mr Handsome to take me to Olive Garden!

My passion has been sewing ever since I was very young. Chemo took a lot of my creativity from me, but it is coming back-very slowly. Chemo did offer me the opportunity to reconnect with some of my nieces who also share the love of fabric and thread. We communitated on facebook. One project we all did was make pillowcases, then crocheted around the top edge-it was fun to see what they have come up with. They found out that their Aunt also has an enormous stash of fabric. What fun we have with that! I am looking forward to getting back to design work. Now when I pull up a design program I just sort of look at a blank screen. I have noticed the feeling that there is still something deep down inside so I don't think it will be long, but until I can actually draw again I will make pocket pies.

    Tomato Basil Soup
use that basil! Take about 10 good size roma tomatoes, peel them seed them. throw in a pot, and simmer for about 15 minutes, high simmer, throw in blender with several pinches of basil, garlic clove, if you have it, and puree, put back into pot and simmer, add a 8 0z can of tomato juice, and 2 tablespoons of butter. Add about 1/4 of a 1/2 pt of cream until it just starts getting a creamier color, you can add a dash of Tabasco....Add black pepper, salt to taste....just simmer for about 20 minutes. Taste and see if it needs to be creamier or add salt.

dish out onto a bowl, eat with croutons, Parmesan cheese and your favorite bread. You can omit the butter, this is sooooooo good and great for cancer patients.

    knitting and crocheting
I LOVE to do either and find it very relaxing. I always have a few projects on needles, at least one of which can be taken with me to appointments, etc. I make a lot of chemo caps to take to my onc's office, and I make prayer shawls, then I make personal projects; right now I'm knitting a top.

    Yeah - more fiber people!
I spin my own yarn - have 2 spinning wheels. Then I knit or crochet projects. Favorite yarn to spin is alpaca. My sister raises llamas and alpacas so I have a nice stash.

Also like to garden and cook and just started learning how to hook primitive rugs.

I am going to give this a try this week!! Thanks. My sister visited last fall and took a bag full of basil back home with her. (They let her take it on the plane!) She dried it and has been using it ever since.

We will also make Bruchetta with it. 6-7 leaves, 4 romas, 2 garlic cloves (or one if you are not feeling adventurous), pinch of salt, grind of fresh black pepper and a splash of EVOO. Put on a toasted bagett or french bread. MMMM.
    Thanks again.

    no doubt
I would definatley say that hanging out with my daughter is my favorite past time. I went through life thinking that I knew what love was until my daughter was born. I have never felt such a profound feeling of love in my life. After years of trying we finally gave up on kids and into our lives she came. Funny how that works. She was born in jan 07 and I had my diagnosis in sept 07. Funny how that works. I truly believe that my love for her has kept me alive and I spend every available moment hanging out with her.

    Loved
I loved to go to Red Sox games. I would take the bus to the train station, the train to Fenway, get a cheap ticket after the game started and eat all hot dog, all for about five bucks. The only difference is now I would take all my family and my grandson with me (and I still want to pay only five bucks).

    Camping and Golfing
Love to go camping and sit by the campfire just staring into the flame. Although when I say camping don't mean roughing it. We have a 35 foot fifth wheel with auto satellite and washer/dryer so I am not missing any luxuries. Last year, because of chemo, was the first time in 23 years we didn't go. Haven't gone much this year either, but it's just been a busy year. We belong to a private camp resort so we can go at anytime. It's far enough from home to say we are away, but close enough to run back home if need be.

Well I also took up golfing a year before cancer, and find it a very interesting sport. One that is frustrating and a big challenge. Not very good at all, but have fun just getting out and enjoying the course.

Sometimes we will bring our clubs with us camping and therefore, we can do both things and doubly enjoy our time.
