My plastic surgeon is a character. A genius surgeon but boy if
I dare to flinch when he STABS me in my breast to fill my expanders
he looks at my like what is your problem. i had my first fill the
the second week of my mastectomy, mind you he didn't think
that I needed pain killers only after the first week.
I was stranded at home in pain and no prescription. Tylenol
DID NOT cut it like he said it would. After several fruitless
calls to his office, I found out my medication had still not
been called in. My general surgeon came to my rescue and returned
my call after hours within 15 minutes. And an angel of a friend,
we barely knew each other before my diagnosis, picked them up for me.
Now he's been telling me, I can do anything exercise just whatever, I am
on my third week after the mastectomy. WHAT is he talking about? I can walk
at the most for about an hour at a slow pace and then I have a
hard time breathing and hunch over. Gym is out of question.
So today he passed me on to his assistant and what a blessing
that was!!!! I hardly felt anything at all, she took her time. And
she could see I was hunching over and asked why I am not taking
the Valium to relax my muscles, when I told her I didn't get any,
she was really surprised and got me some right away.... It was
such a nice change to be understood. HALLELUYAH!!!
So moral of the story, don't let anyone tell you WHAT you
SHOULD feel, especially if that certain someone never sported
a set of breasts around!!!

Crazy Indeed
Aysemari,
I'm sorry that happened to you. That is ridiculous!
I was told to not do any cardio for four weeks. I couldn't do any lifting for six weeks. Then they released to do whatever I wanted (but no lifting over ten) as long as it didn't cause me any pain. I tried walking at two weeks and really paid for it with terrible muscle spasms. So take it easy. I was able to do some tai chi and yoga throughout the process and I even lifted some five pound dumb bells. I did the elliptical and was able to walk a couple of miles a day after the initial six weeks. I tried to get back into Pilates but it really hurt (I had alloderm sewn to my chest wall and laying straight out was extremely uncomfortable.)
I too had my first fill two weeks out from my masectomy. Soooo glad somebody finally listened to you. I took the muscle relaxer Flexeril but Valium will do the same thing and it helped with the pain far more than anything else.
A friend of mine who's been through this suggested taking tylenol and advil at the same time every four hours the day of a fill and for a couple after. Some women don't have problem with pain but I sure did, especially near the end. Take the Valium.
Maybe this doctor craziness is related to the moon? I don't know but I'm glad you have gotten some relief.
Blessings,

Dear Ayse, call me crazy, but, is it too late to look for another plastic surgeon? This one sounds kind of, well, mean. I am thinking happy, healing thoughts for you. Keep us posted!
xoxoxo, Jackie
Sorry you went thru that. The doc is a noncaring jacka$$. Why not give you a 30 day supply of pain meds just in case you may have needed them, and you did. It's not like we here in the USA have a shortage of pain meds. Maybe the dude will get kidney stones (I hear that's painful for a man) and his doc tells him to take a Tylenol.0
