What is your favorite past time?
Now that I am off work, it's like WOW, I can do this for a long time.........but time goes by so fast when you aren't working. I have worked all my life, I mean all my life.....this is an awakening!
I sit here now and contemplate:
If I had one day to do one thing of leisure, all day long, it would be reading (BOOKS) in front of a fireplace.
If I had to work at a job 8 hours a day, a job of my choice, it would be interior decorating.
If I had to do something for 4 hours of my choice and I had all the tools at my disposal, it would be cooking...cooking anything I wanted. I wouldn't even have to eat it!
If I could go back to school for something and I had money to do such a thing, it would be culinary school.
If I had my choice of where to live, it would be on the beach, with the woods behind me!
If I had 1 day left in my life to do what I wanted, I would cook dinner, and have the family all seated at the table for one last supper.......then I would go to bed and talk to my lord....and that isn't my husband! :-) But he's in there somewhere!

knitting and crocheting
I LOVE to do either and find it very relaxing. I always have a few projects on needles, at least one of which can be taken with me to appointments, etc. I make a lot of chemo caps to take to my onc's office, and I make prayer shawls, then I make personal projects; right now I'm knitting a top.

Knitting & Reading
I spend hours each morning and night knitting and during the day find time for reading. I knit Prayer Shawls to give each month to my husband's oncology unit and with our grandchildren being born one after another lately, I knit baby blankets, sweaters, booties, and hats. When I have time I knit preemie hats for the hospital. I enjoy reading Debbie Macomber, Sheryl Woods, & Susan Wiggs. I donate all books to the onc department for nurses and patients to read. These are the two things I do in my spare time to keep sane. Take care everyone and God Bless. Margaret0 -
The wife, dog and I
Nana,
The wife, dog and I enjoy taking the Kubota and riding the trails in the fields/woods and spotting deer and other wildlife. For a city girl, the wife has become a better deer spotter then me. (she still won’t shoot one) She spotted a 10 point buck laying down just 40 foot from the trail today. We have about 6 miles of trails to play on.
The trails are a great place to contemplate life, cancer and God. What I do is just sit in the Kubota while parked in the woods and take everything out of my mind and place it beside me. Then I toss out all the crap and put everything else back in an orderly fashion. Kind of like cleaning out your desk drawer or deleting old useless files on your computer. It just gets your mind right. I find that the older I get, along with having cancer, the more I need to do this. I am continually changing my life’s value system.
Now, every now and then I come back home all screwed up (thanks to chemo brain) with some stuff in the wrong damn place or I tossed out the wrong damn things in the woods.

Kerry
I am jealous Kerry!! Still trying to get my "acres" out somewhere! For now when I want to go hunting its a 10 hour drive south to a little town in Ark. My Aunt and Uncle live there. Of course I would still make that drive, even if I had my place. It is where I can go, anytime, feel welcome, and get my mind right as far as how beautiful nature is and how important it is in our everyday lives, whether we see it or not. The woods for me, are as spiritualy healing as a ride on the motorcycle, a loving squeeze of my hand from my wife, or the touch on my cheek from a grandchild.
hope this finds ya smilin.
and you planning on putting that 10 point on the dinner menu this fall?? LOL.

Dreaming.... I'm a
Dreaming.... I'm a daydreamer. I have ideas of projects I will never acomplish or I draw up plans for things I will never build. I think out loud about the way I will build an addition or landscape the yard or remodel the house describing every detail. My wife and kids go along with it saying how nice it will be or what a good idea it is, knowing all along that it will never happen. They know me too well. I have a bad habit of biting off more than I can chew when it comes to daydreams. I have started probably a hundred projects in my life without finishing them. I always lose interest after starting something probably because I know the finished product won't live up to my "vision". My family understands me, they know I like to believe I can improve on things because I'm a perfectionist. But I'm only a perfectionist in my head, my vision of how I would do something is perfect and I'm not happy if it doesn't come out perfect so I don't finish it. This allows me to believe when I do finish it, it will be awesome. I can actually see the finished project in my head and describe every detail and sometimes that's enough for me. I don't always need do it to enjoy it just the planning is fun for me. Crazy, I know, but at least I know it.... Funny thing is, the best things in my life I never dreamed of or planned for they just happened. (my wife and kids)
I do hope I can break my habit though cause now most of my plans and dreams are about beating cancer and being here while my kids grow up.....0 -

depends on where I am! When I had my own house (in Florida) I was really into DITY projects - painting, refinishing furniture, etc. I had even remembered that I knew how to draw, and did free hand borders along the ceilings and a mural on the wall. Painting and playing in my garden was the life. I had a little corner of my sun room with paints and used to love to make ceramic Christmas villages.
Now...that I rent, and live in a place that freezes for 9 months out of the year.... daydreaming about that beach house with the woods behind it seems to be the thing! (Nana)
At the current moment, I have a half finished hook rug under the bed, a half finished crochet blanket...under the bed. I have paints and vases that my friend bought me since she knows I love to paint - untouched so far. lots of plants outside that I will have to bring inside soon. I like to cook, but this kitchen is the pits! Now I mostly take comfort in listening to old malt shop style music and curling up with a good book, or cleaning the cat box....0 -

Wow... I almost have too many to mention.
Things I love to do: Crochet, counted cross stitch, scrapbook, putter around the house, I love to cook and I'm good at it, but my husband is better. I love to read ~~ It takes me to places I've only dreamed about. Most of all, I love spending time with my family. My kids and my husband. My dog. She's about the biggest baby I've ever seen. I also love to spend time by myself. Like Kerry, I love to up in the mountains. I love to sit there and listen to nature. It's just so calming to sit and listen. LOVE IT!! I also like to build things. We're putting in a room above our garage. It's fun for me, and there's nothing like pounding nails to get some aggression out.0 -

I know, I know I'm more of an "imaginationist" because my mind actually percieves the finished product. That's also why I'm an inventor..... Just not financially successful yet...0 -
When I was going through
When I was going through chemo I used to paint rocks. You can see some is you go to my home page. I don’t do it any longer now that I’m feeling better. I just do the house husband thing,. Cooking cleaning, laundry, and I kind of enjoy it. Whet from making good money to a house husband. I like being a house husband though and spending time with the kids better but don’t tell my wife!!

One guess
FISHING FISHING FISHING When I am out on my own fishing I have no pain ,no problems,no responsibility. It is the earth wire for my soul. All the bad stuff just drains away and I am renewed. I am heading off to a place called Baffle creek next month for a week of hard core fishing. I'll take fruit and veggies but I will live on fish and crabs for the week, just the anticipation makes me feel better,Ron.0 -
I fill my time with crochet projects. My youngest granddaughter (now 5 yrs old) was a premie. Since her birth I have been making little blankets which I donate to the permie ward at the local hospital which took such good care of the baby.
I also make donations of other crochet projects to other organizations.
I am an avid reader. I love a good mystery, romance novel or biography. I wear out the library card and am a frequent visitor to the used book store.
If I could have another career I would want to go into some type of investigative work...I love a puzzle and challenge.
If I could have the home of my dreams, it would be a log cabin on the top of a mountain that I would own. I like my creature comforts (running water, electric, etc) but I too am partial to the country environment. Listening to the quiet, enjoying all that nature puts out there for us to see, all that is comforting and calming for me.
Most days, life is good...for those days when it is not, I just push through giving myself permission to feel down, but only for a little while...having a goal of some sort helps me get back on track.

Good question
I love to read and write poetry and short essays. I also am an avid rubber stamper and scrapbooker. My favorite times are spent with my family, particularly my grandchildren. And I love to sing. Not a day goes by that I don't sing myself silly.
*hugs*

Me?
I'd be back in Italy, on my scooter with my old doggie in my basket on the back. Wind to our faces, sunshine on our backs. We'd go to the town market place and buy our fresh vegetables and meat, then we would scooter on our way back home, preparing lunch ever so lovingly.
Afterwards, I would make my way to the public beach and swim in the riviera to my hearts content (um, although this could take hours between swimming and sunning)then I would dry myself off, hop on my scooter and venture out into that wonderful world of Portifino and the rest of Italy at my leisure. Big sigh, yes, that is how I would live out my days.0 -

I love to garden, but not too much that it's overwhelming......I like to sit back and look at my home and what I created. I get great comfort from my house, all my houses. I miss my cabin that burned down a few years ago. I would go up for the weekend and never go inside but to sleep. I had a friend who would use it and she would clean it for me. That was a great arrangement! I miss her! I also love nature, but didn't like being chased by the Havelina. They are ugly and they chased me up the steps, onto the porch! I had a deer knock down my fence to get into my garden and fruit trees, I had 17 fruit trees. The squirrels would come to my front door and ask if Mark could go out and play :-), my friends bf, who loved those squirrels. I once fell asleep on the drive to the cabin and when I opened my eyes, I was eye level with a elk. IT was SO BIG, as tall as my Yukon! It was in the middle of the road and would not move, so my husband could go by. Good thing he didn't hit it! The raccoons would eat the cherries off of the cherry trees, and the gofers would eat my spring bulbs and make big holes in my yard! I never saw a snake, THANK YOU!0 -

Sounds great, I think we all need to clean out the mind! Sounds like a wonderful place to contemplate.

I love to do so much but mostly now I love to be with my family and friends. BC I would have 17 things going at once. Now not so much. Since cancer I found I love to cook. I liked it before but now I wake up thinking about the next kitchen adventure. I found a fun little thing at Williams Sonoma. It is a "pocket pie maker". It only cost about $10.00 and I got mine on sale for $7.00. Mr Handsome did not even blink when I suggested I get one, he just took it right up to the counter. I love making pocket pies, he loves eating them.
I love to be out doors. I'm from Colorado and miss the mountains. I miss spending warm summer days by the river, feeling the cool (cold actually) water and seeing the animals. In Texas we don't have what Colorado offers, but I still like to garden and see what I can actually make grow here. It is a bit of a challenge because what the bugs don't get the heat will burn up. Today I went out and thinned the basil garden. It smelled so good. Almost asked Mr Handsome to take me to Olive Garden!
My passion has been sewing ever since I was very young. Chemo took a lot of my creativity from me, but it is coming back-very slowly. Chemo did offer me the opportunity to reconnect with some of my nieces who also share the love of fabric and thread. We communitated on facebook. One project we all did was make pillowcases, then crocheted around the top edge-it was fun to see what they have come up with. They found out that their Aunt also has an enormous stash of fabric. What fun we have with that! I am looking forward to getting back to design work. Now when I pull up a design program I just sort of look at a blank screen. I have noticed the feeling that there is still something deep down inside so I don't think it will be long, but until I can actually draw again I will make pocket pies.
