Hope all is going well after your surgery. Take good care!

Surgery went very well...
was definitely eventful, but I think I did well. He was going to go in and do this laproscopically. Well, that didn't happen. Well, it did, but he had to cut me open, right next to the old scar from the bowel surgery. Turns out that my innards had all scarred together. He said he couldn't make out what was what in there. He said he could see the top of my uterus and that gave him a landmark, but that was it. Couldn't make out the ovaries or the tubes or even the cervix. In fact, he shot dye in my kidneys so he could identify the ureters. Then came the scraping and the pulling. Took about 3 more hours than what he was planning. Lots of bleeding from scraping, but that was to be expected. Wild, huh? Of course, my bowel surgeon found NADA, Nothing, Zilch. I didn't think he would. There is a lightness I feel though. It's hard to explain, but I feel good. Dave, thank God, went back to work today. This surgery is NOTHING like the last one, even though the scar is as long, but the bowels weren't really played with. Just other stuff that was taken out. I wonder what my bowel surgeon thought when he seen all the scar tissue.

Don't you think that all that scar tissue would have shown up my recent CT that was done less than a month ago? I would think so, but then again, he said my gallbladder was unremarkable as was my sigmoid. DUH!!

I was a good patient and got up that evening. For some reason, my back and my butt just hate those beds. LOL So, Dave helped me up, we took a little walk around the nurses station and that was it. I think I slept more than I was awake. Those rotten nurses (I'm one of them, because I do it, too) made me wear TED hose and plexi-pulses. Neither are comfy. Dave brought me home yesterday morning. I hadn't passed gas yet, but he said to call him if I hadn't by last night. Since I'm a nurse, he said I know what to look for. Well, no farts for me, went straight to poo. I have a trust issue with farts. )

Pathology will be back next week, but I'm not expecting anything earth-shattering. Just plain old tissue with a tad bit of cervical cancer. Nothing other than that.

One of those times
This is one of those times to be thankful they put you out for surgery! If it takes longer than usual or has other issues, you never know till afterwards, when all is well. What a relief! Just remember to take it easy on lifting. Walking, and making sure you get some movement of your joints and body often is important, but stay away from lifting anything over 5 pounds for a while, or you'll regret it. Rest plenty, walk plenty, and keep the fluids going in, and you'll recover quickly.

I'm glad this is done for you now - no more worrying.

Glad you are home
Sorry there was a game plan change, but good news that nothing else was found to be questionable.

I was lucky, when they did the colostomy and other surgery they did the hysterectomy at the same time...one stop shopping for me...so only one wound and one recovery.

Typically nurses don't make good patients...hope you are the exception and take good care of yourself during the healing process.

glad you are home!
Sounds like you are recovering nicely! I know when I had my hysterectomy and they removed other various items in my abdomen it was a much easier recovery because the intestines weren't touched! As far as scar tissue showing on scans, I've never had them mentioned on my scans but I know I have a "heavy burden of adhesions" in my abdomen, especially after my HIPEC with all the infections. Keep strong!
