Sending BIG hugs, Norma!
Norma....colonoscopies are not exactly fun but the worst thing is the prep! The procedure itself is a piece of cake.....you typically have no awareness of the procedure.
I am sure they will find everything to be "picture perfect"!
Keep us posted!

sending you my very best wishes.
sounds like you're having an endoscopy which checks the abdomen, etc., not colonoscopy which checks the colon, or is that not correct? the tubes go in opposite directions for each--i know with a colonoscopy the prep, as karen said, is the worst part, and then they put you in a twilight sleep. i'm not sure what prep there is for an endoscopy, which goes through the throat i think, and i'm not sure if you have to be awake or not. still, it shouldn't hurt, they'll give you something. hopefully, there's not the same prep for the endo. in any case, sending you, again. lots of positive energy and positive thoughts. it's always a good start when you have no symptoms. will be thinking of you especially on the 3rd.

Tomorrow morning
I'll be thinking of you and visualizing nice, pink, healthy tissue and "unremarkable" endoscopy results.

Sending these your way as visual all will be healthy! If you see the good outcome, it will happen... The mind is a wonderful thing, but need to learn to use it to our advantage.

Norma good luck tomorrow.
Maggie is right that an endoscopy looks at the esphogus and stomach. The only prep for that is to have nothing by mouth since midnight. They usually do give medicine before that test.
The colonoscopy looks at the colon and intestine. The prep is not pleasant, but the test itself is not bad as they do give medicine before they do the procedure.
Here's hoping that they do not find anything. Since you have no symptoms that can be a good thing. Hope it is an uneventful test. In peace and caring.0 -

I am such a goof. It was a colonoscopy not endoscopy.
Thanks to you sweet, wonderful ladies for the support!!! {{Jan, RO, Karen, Cecile, Maggie}}}
The prep was something I would like to forget. Unfortunately, I will have to do another one again in 6 mos. Doc wants to be extra careful.
So how did your colonoscopy go, Norma...mmmm! HA HA!!! I am so self-absorbed sometimes. Like I am the first person to ever have one. Didn't Katie Curic do hers on TV?
Anyway it was really a good experience, except for throwing up all the way home from Houston. Usually ansthesia does not affect me that way.
Got to see the inside of my colon, which looked pretty darned good. All pink and healthy. Thank you Anti-cancer Diet!!! A few polyps were removed. They even give you a report and pictures of them for your scrapbook. It was a positive experience. No cancer could be seen anywhere. Polyps go in for testing which takes 5-7 days. Doc said they did not look suspicious. Benign growths. Hurray!!!
The doctor was 2 hrs late getting to me. I found out why. He was very gentle and methodical in his manner. Great doc. Great hospital. Once again MD Anderson Cancer exceeds my expectations.
Love you guys for the comments. Anyone going for this procedure good luck to you. It isn't so bad.0 -

Oh, Norma....you made me laugh! I was a bit confused when you mentioned an endoscopy and then later indicated you had never had a colonoscopy.... SO...am glad you got that straightened out! :-)
Wow...a repeat in 6 months? I don't envy you! I have one every 3 years and that is plenty often! The prep is the killer!!
Yes, the photo's are amazing....lovely tones of pink and red.....hmmmm...I am picturing a possible "grouping" hanging on the wall? Would certainly be a conversation piece!
Am soooo glad you are squeaky clean!
Cheers!! Karen0 -

that's terrific news; procedure is a piece of cake, it's the prep. i'm so glad everything looks so good, as it should, and i'm sure the polyps are nothing.
they give you so much to drink for these procedures, that when i had my first colonoscopy i reached the point where i just couldn't swallow another mouthful, and i stopped. but, the amount of liquid to be consumed must be for a huge man, so really, most of us here do not need to drink so much. and all was fine, but i was prepared not to go though with the procedure if i had to drink any more. the second colonoscopy was far better because i knew i didn't need to drink so much to have it work.
actually, the very worst was the prep for surgery, which was different than the other preps, much worse. i was having the worst possible time, and also didn't finish it. it too proved to be enough. frankly, the surgery was a breeze compared to that prep, odd as that may sound. who knew there were so many kinds of prep??
in any case, so happy for you, norma, i know what a huge relief it is. now you can relax.

Wonderful post. Wonderful news. would you consider writing to the powers that be at M.D and relaying how much you feel your using the guidelines in the book may have helped you. I imagine at the beginning of their new journey they would welcome a kindly word or two.
Love you,

Oh you're so silly....the other end hum? Not much difference as just another day with our wonderful doctors.
I had my first one, COLONOSCOPY, last December and it wasn't bad, just the prep. Found no polyps and glad to have my pictures for the scrap book...imagine showing to friends on a nice winter nite.
Anti-cancer is my idol of a book, so bet you'll fine nothing found and can chalk that test up for a while. Did you say another one in 6 months? I've got one in 5 years, only because I've got cancer, as hubbie with no cancer has his every 10 years (no cancer for him).
Best to you and so happy you made it thru!

And I don't mean the lyrics to New York! New York!
Yours were the first posts I read about eating a proper diet. You started me thinking about it and reading the literature. You made a difference with me, honey!! Thanks so much.
Yes, I do tell the doctors I see at M. D. Anderson about the diet. When I went for my check up I made sure the nurse noted in my chart that I have been following the Anti-Cancer diet. I also have volunteered any studies that explore diet and cancer. They are really big on diet there. A buzzzzzz is going on there. In the waiting rooms the patients are talking about it. Good things are happening, Claudia.0 -

I wish mine were 5 yrs apart. I have nightmares about that liquid stuff. Here we purge crayfish with salt water before we boil them and eat them. Remember I am from New Orleans we do eat the mud bugs. Anyway I think it is poetic justice...that I get purged from time to time.....hahahaha0 -

I just love that poker pic!!! I so much appreciate the advice about the amount of liquid. I think it is enough to clean out a bull elephant. Next time I am going to fudge a little on the amount. This time the doctor commented how clean my colon was. Now isn't that something to have someone commenting on how clean you got your colon. I wanted to laugh but was afraid he would perforate my intestine.0 -

i really appreciated your post and your humor. yes, how strange it is that someone would comment on how clean you got your colon! we do inhabit a weird, weird world. i can just see you holding back laughter when your doctor made that comment because you were afraid he would perforate your intestine... smart, because he could have with you laughing your head off. glad you like my poker pic. will probably keep it up for awhile. it's nice to see people changing up their photos from time to time, so we get a sense of continuity, and how everyone is looking now.
to continue the culinary note begun here: last night i drank a little champagne, and ate 4 different kinds of souffles--gruyere, roquefort, corn and ginger, and spinach! at a divine souffle restaurant in san francisco. heaven. then topped with a strawberry souffle-- for a friend's birthday. first time in months i went off my diet. felt great, now back to green tea, etc.......
take care,
hugs and sisterhood,
