Went to see surgeon today. It's been 5 weeks since bilateral mastectomy. He removed all the steri strips and said my incision looked good. I asked about the lumps of skin under my arm and he said it's skin from my back. He told me it will either flatten on its own or he'll do a simple procedure later. He also told me the numbness & tightness will last about a year! We talked about the chemo the oncologist decided on and he was surprised considering my joint and bone pain. I'm going to have TC. I got a script for bras & prostheses which he said I could wear in about a month. At least then I feel a bit more normal minus the boobs! lol

Did you have the joint and bone pain before? Have they done a pet scan yet? I was just curious as to why the surgeon would question your oncs decision on the chemo. I had a double mastectomy last june and did chemo afterwards and finished that in October. Are you going to eventually do reconstruction? I know it is difficult for me too when i dont wear my prostheses. Mine is just a material thing stuffed with cotton!! I had tissue expanders in and they had to remove one in February because of infection. So i have one bump and nothing on the left. Its embarrassing, but im finally going to get my reconstruction on August 12th. I cant wait to get my new boobs!!

    Take care
