avastin
it is used with other drugs to treat cancer,it inhibits the body from growing new blood vessel to supply blood to cancer cells, it's downsides are; it prevents you from having surgery, slows the healing of wounds and it does not allow you to use hyperbaric treatments for 30 days after receiving it.0 -
It is an amazing drug,
It is an amazing drug, blocks vascular growth. My wife responded to it very well when she was first diagnosed. It is also one of the most expensive drugs on the market. Main side effect is hypertension, she takes medicine that counteracts that.0 -
Avastin
Very, very simply: blocks the blood supply to the tumors. Extremely effective. Horribly expensive. If you need any surgery, must be off Avastin for a few weeks before and after as bleeding can be a problem. My hubby responded wonderfully to it, is now on maintenance of 5FU, Leucovorin adding Avastin every other week. It continues to do its job. George has been on Avastin as part of his chemo cocktail for over a year.
