    Don't know what that is. I just layed there while I moved through the machine. Actually they were a lot easier than the other scan (well except for bone density) as arms were at my sides instead of holding a T-bar over head which hurt like Hades. Will never do another scan that requires that wihout a 'good' pain pill before it again.

    I was told when I came out of the dressing room that whoever was with me would have to wait in the waitingroom. I took myself - so no issue for me.

    2 bone scans and 3 PET/CT scans
    But who's counting? ;-) About bone scans, they injected a radioactive tracer that didn't bother me at all. I had to wait, I think a few hours, for the tracer to get to the bones. Then you just hold still for about 20 min and they scan you.

    My husband sat almost right next to me while I had my bone scan. It was comforting for me. You will do fine!

    You have really made me feel better. I am definitely claustrofobic (sp?) so I am planning on taking an Ativan before and then a 1/2 during the wait time. I'm hoping to kind of doze off.

    I hope Ralph can come with me...can I talk?

    I called my surgeon and he said the port can be used bcause it is a radioactive saline and not a dye push like for a CT Scan. Then I talked to the tech who does the injection and she has made arrangements for a Chemo RN to be there at 9:30 to access my port.

    You guys are the best....now we just hope for that arthritis dx!

    Yes you can talk, remember I said that my daughter came in with me and she kept talking to me to keep my mind off it. Just keep your eyes closed. I would peek, so needed a towel over my eyes. LOL Just until it went over my face that's all.

    You have already gotten whatever I would say written here. My husband came in with me too and sat quite close to me. He talked to me and I could talk to him. Just be sure and ask them if your husband can. I am sure they will let him.

    And, it isn't a dye like for a CAT scan, not at all. When they put it in me, it just hurt for a second.

    Judy, I don't think anything hurts/burns like the dye injected into the boob for the sentinel node biopsy. I've had several tests with injections and nothing has been painful like that one. I didn't have a port so I'm not sure about that. The bone scan will be one of the easiest tests you have. You really just lie on a table on your back and they prop up under your legs with a pillow. You lie still and the machine simply scans your body. Very simply and absolutely no pain involved. Good luck and I'll be hoping for a clean scan for you.

    My hubby also came in with me during the bone scan and kept jabbering cause I think he was more nervous than me. lol I actually was trying to take a little nap. lol

    You are not the only one
    You are not the only one to have that done. I also had my feet banded together during my bone scan. In my case I think it was because when I lay flat on my back my feet turn out to the sides and do not stay straight up. Just one of those weird things!
    I also was injected and then had to wait 2 hrs. but there was no pain.
    Count me in for the Wimpy Club - I hate needles!

    Good luck with your bone scan Judy! You get your injection, go away for about an 1 1/2, come back and lay on the metal table with your clothes on and the machine does go slowly over you. It took about 45 minutes. My husband also sat with me, which helped. And, the techs were so nice and told us that everything looked good before we left.

    Bone scan scheduled for Mon, July 26, 9:30 am
    The tech said after the injection they'll send me away for several hours and then come back and it should take up to an hour. But she did say they will probably take pictures of both hips before the dye reaches them right after the injection so they can see the blood flow. She also said to drink a lot of water during the wait time to get the dye evenly distributed, up to 50 oz. But I love water so that should be not a huge problem.

    This will be a big relief cause I'll have proof eveything is ok. Should it not be, well then we'll be right on top of it....
