Hi My name is Tina. My mother was recently diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer. She has surgery this past tuesday to have a hysterectomy. Her PET Scan prior to the surgery also showed many nodules on her lungs at the time. Her pathology tests from the surgery showed that it was actually cervical cancer. She has had a few complications since the surgery and is now on oxygen all the time and has some trouble breathing occassionaly. The lung specialist has stated that she has many nodules on her lungs that are covering 50% of both lungs. They haven't even told me what stage the cancer is at this point. Could someone please give me some advice as to what questions i should be asking the dr's. They has also suggested that I start setting up hospice for when she is able to leave the hospital. Any help anyone can provide would be great. I lost my dad a few years ago to a very advanced stage of lung cancer and my mom is the only family I have left besides my husband. Thank You.

I am not sure how they stage
I am not sure how they stage cervical cancer, but with it spreading to her lungs, it has progressed.

Curious as to why they are telling you to contact hospice. Do they not plan to treat the lung? What is your moms age and general health? I am assuiming wiht both lungs 50% covered and her being on oxygen, they are thinking she is not a good candidate for treatment. (which is never easy to hear) Comes down to quality vs quantity of life.

I think I would still get a second opinion or at the least further explaination from current doc.

If it does come to it, hospice will be of great help and comfort to you both.

My best to you and your mom....

Not gettting enough answers from the dr's
That is what i don't understand either. The Cancer Dr had mentioned that she needs to get better before they can start the treatments, but then the lung specialist calls me and brings up hospice out of the blue. My mom is 67 and she had congestive heart failure about 5 years ago due to a blood clot in her lung, but has been overall pretty healthy the last few years. I am going to try and meet with both dr's today to get more informations. Thanks.
