This is going to be a short but sweet post, I came home from the hospital today & am so glad to be in my comfy bed, but I'm soooo tired! I had a double mastectomy on Thursday, with expanders put in also. They also did the sentinel node biopsy, and that came back negative (yay!). I'm getting around really well, arms moving freely. I had 3 drain tubes in and my Dr. removed one of them today.
All in all I feel pretty damn good -even though it feels like I got hit by a bus in my chest..I thought of all of your encouraging words for me when I was waiting to go in for surgery and getting really nervous - I did feel you all in there with me & wasn't scared ;)
Time for me to get a little sleep, I wanted to hop on here to give you guys a quick update on how I'm doing! I'll come back on tomorrow and get more detailed, as I'm sitting here I can barely keep my eyes open!
*big big hugs*
Heather

    Yay Heather,
    you made it

    Yay Heather,
you made it through. And negative nodes that's great to hear! I know what you mean about being sleepy. I don't stay awake for very long at a time. Once I take my vicodin I'm out for a couple of hours. Glad to hear things went well for you. We are in the same achey boat, those of us who just did our surgeries. While you were in surgery, my insurance finally agreed to the bi lateral we were hoping for. So, not a momment to soon and that's what I got. Thanks to everybody for their prayers here that got them moving for me. sleep well.

Big weight off your mind ... Negative nodes
I found that moving both of my arms after by Bi-lateral Mac'tmy -- help a great deal in my recovery .. I did not need physical therapy.

I also found that coffee cups, dishes layed out on the countertop help me with not pulling or overworking any cut muscles. Oh those beautiful beautiful drains .. OUCH if they fall, .. memories of pain :-)))) Make sure to get plenty of rest, and use medication given to you by the doctor.

Happy recovery to a new YOU !!!

i'm so glad to hear that your insurance finally agreed to the bi-lateral for you. It's such a shame the crap we have to go through, insurance and doctor-wise, on top of all the cancer crap....hope you're recovering peacefully & comfy!

    congrats!
I'm glad you are home and resting. Being out of the hospital makes resting so much easier!

Take care of yourself and let others do for you. I had my surgery two weeks before you and I can testify that it helps to baby yourself. I'm glad your arms are moving well. I'm still a little stiff under my left arm myself. I work it every day.

Hope you're still doing well - and I love the pink hair!
