    Ahhhhh the hair
Kinda sucks at first every time you look in the mirror. I would keep going to the mirror to check myself out after a a couple days it got better....I did however have issues with rubbing my head almost endlessly LOL.

Didn't even realize I was doing it till my husband would say something to me LOL.

Grab the kleenex Vinnie, the nose hairs go too my friend! So will the eyebrows and eyelashes, so be careful when washing your face! Would also say all the hair on your chest, legs.....it all goes.

I saved all kinds of money on razorblades :)

    Take care,
    Beth

    I know
Hey Beth, wow, can't believe it will happen, just makes me feel sick, when I look at myself in the mirror, joked with my wife, telling her we need to drape all the mirrors over LOL..... when I had cancer before i lost some of my hair not from the chemo, but the rads, but I did not lose it all, the worse for me was the color of my skin, was almost a yellow grey color! thought this would be different, I guess like before you come to accept it...... I will but not in a day!!!! Vinny

    HAIR FALLING OUT
Vinny, I know what you mean. I brushed my hair and checked the brush and it was full of hair. Didn't want to clog up the shower drain. After I got out of the shower EEEEKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!. It was plugged up anyway. Got more out of the shower drain than I got off the brush. Still waiting to shave it the rest of the way. I guess the facial hair, eyebrows and lashes will be next.

its wierd cus when i had my chemo,i didn't lose my hair.

But when i had mantle rads,i lost the underneath at the back where it cross sectioned from my lower jaw!
I had straight hair and the underneath came back as what can only be described as pubic!!!!! LOL!!!!!
It was like i had a curly perm underneath my long, straight hair. But like i say,i lost none during chemo.

I was that upset at the thought of losing my lovely long hair,my onc changed one of the drugs so there was less chance of it coming out. These days i wouldn't give a damn about my hair,so long as it cured me! lol funny how differently your mind works when you're 17!

Vinny~ think of all the sxy, bald men in the world! he he

Vin Deisel, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis etc etc!! ;-)

    Hair
My hair started to fall out just like the literature said it would. This past week; two days after R-Chop #2, the thinning began. I'd had it cut short but, now need a shave. The loss of hair with the pallor of my skin looks awful; worse than I had anticipated. Trying scarves. Bought a wig, thanks to TLC and will have it styled next week. Don't know which way to go. I may stick with scarves at home and a wig when I go out for something. Almost seams like the wig is more socially acceptable for women. Bald men are a dime a dozen...sorry guys! See how it feels. What do you ladies think? Kellie

    WEIRD HAIR
I HAVE HEARD OF THAT HAPPENING. THE HAIR GROWS BACK TOTALLY DIFFERENT THAN BEFORE. DOES IT STAY THAT WAY OR EVENTUALLY GO BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS IN THE BEGINNING? MY HAIR IS FINE AND STRAIGHT. DON'T THINK I WOULD LOOK GOOD WITH AN AFRO.

    What do I think?
UGHHHH!...Thats what I think...ha! I had L-O-N-G hair all of my life. 2 weeks ago I got it all cut off short..(see profile picture). I cut it in order to brace myself for losing "ALL" of it...at the time it seemed like the best way to be pro-active before I start chemo. I'm fine with it short and kind of wish I'd cut it years ago. With that being said...I'm still not fully ready to lose "ALL" of it. Short hair is one thing..."NO" hair is another thing. Eyebrows and lashes falling out has me a little freaked out, but I'm sure I'll learn to adjust...(eyebrow pencil, fake lashes) can be a quick fix. We need to be compassionate for the guys. They have vanity issues also. Just because they don't primp and fuss like we do doesn't necessarily mean they don't care about how they look. The playing field has never been level when it comes to stuff like what women have to go through versus men...pregnancy...pap smears..mammograms..periods...menopause etc, etc. This cancer really levels that old playing field. It's an equal opportunity "self esteem" bummer...ya know? Sad deal for "ALL" of us...guys and gals alike.

COBRA~ yeah its wierd how it
COBRA~ yeah its wierd how it can grow back curly. I am a hairdresser, and when you do the theory side of it, you learn that its the shape of the hair follicle that determines if you have straight or curly hair.

Straight hair comes from a round 'O' shaped follicle, where as curly hair comes from a kidney shaped follicle. The more deformed the hair follicle is,the curlier your hair is! In reality, anything other than perfectly stright hair is whay you'd class as deformed!! LOL

Now i dont know if they chemo changes the shape of the follicle??? Not sure if thats even possible?? Or the rads. But alot of ppl who's hair grows back curly when it used to be straight, will eventually straighten out again.

Mine has stayed a LITTLE bit wavy but its neither one thing nor the other.

VINNY~ yeah i guess the no-eyebrow/lashes thing is the give away sign! Women can stick on false lashes and pencil in their brows, but this may look a little odd on a bloke!!! LOL
To be honest,i think a woman can get away with a wig/turban and false lashes and brows so the 'chemo-look' is lessened. Men have a harder time disguising it i think. My step brother has alopecia and he has no hair, brows or lashes and to be fair,he looks like he's on chemo!

wow,i think i have just found a niche in the market! MAN BROWS!! Stick-on ones like you get for lashes!!

**rushes off to think of designs!** LOL
