Not sure-
about those symptoms, Debbie. The dizziness and studdering, speaking, and memory things- really think you should take these, and the other symptoms you mention, to a Dr.: Onco or ENT. You have headaches? 9-months out, your condition should be improving, rather than getting worse in all those ways.

Hope It's Not a Concern
DebbieJeanne,
I'm with Kent - I think you should call doc ASAP, if for no other reason than to ask if these things sometimes happen after treatment.
I had a couple of new issues just before my three month check - the doc really eased my mind when I brought them up. I still have the issues, but don't feel so nervous about them.
Here's hoping this can be attributed to some odd, temporary issue. It seems like a lot of things to be cropping up.0 -
lot of symptoms
Hi Debbi, very sorry to hear you've been hit with such a rash of discomforts at this point. I agree with Kent and Pam though, I think your ENT would be the place to go since most of your symptoms seem to be from the neck up. It may be you have more that one thing going on to cause such an unpleasant laundry list, and the ENT should be able to diagnose and fix.
best wishes for you, Hal0 -

Hi debbiejeanne:
I'm with everybody else. I'd check with your doctor ASAP. Charlie did have his mouth burn some but it would be with certain foods that might be spicy and such more than usual. Take care girl and get those symptoms fixed. Prayers are coming your way!

HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD A PROBLEM WITH YEAST ON THE TOUNGE?
I just returned from the ent. I read him an entire list of problems and he checked my mouth and throat. He said the only thing wrong is that I have yeast on my tounge. I don't know if I buy that or not but guess I have no choice. He was rated in the top 10 docs both 2008 and 2010 so maybe I just worry too much.
I have an appt with my nureosurgeon for the other symptons. I had a brain turmor (not cancerours) about 15 yrs ago and they discovered during surgery that there is something in my middle brain that they couldn't mess with due to its location. Maybe its that as far as my memory goes.
Anyway, looks like all is fine and I want to thank you all again for your replies, support and prayers.

Hi Debbi. I am 9 months out as well. Last treatment October 13 2009. 33 rads, 3 chemos for SCC BOT with mets to one node. I have had the headaches, sometimes for as long as 3 days straight. Mouth and tongue great some weeks but not so good others. Seems to cycle, come and go. This week the lower part of my tongue "aches" a bit, sides have a couple of sore spots. I do feel that sometimes when I'm talking that my mouth is not forming the words right. I slow down, back up and try again usually with no problem. My wife is a nurse and if I was speaking noticably poorly she would say so. My thinking seems to be normal. I returned to work the end of October and things have been fine. (Civil Engineering/Design) Food goes down well most of the time but like you sometimes not so smooth. (Try to stay hydrated helps, smaller bites and chew well)I see my ENT every 4 weeks. I have reported on 2 different visits that I had sore throat, swollen glands, one time even lost my voice. He said he thought I was over reacting. (Like everyone I had a virus, my body was doing it's thing) To tell the truth, I felt I may have been over reacting myself but after what we have all gone/going through how could we not be? Anyways, I hope you are seeing whichever Doc has control often. Tell him/her your concerns. Stay calm. Before all of this I had learned that it does no good to worry about something you can't control. (Like flying on an airplane) I put my life in the hands of my Doctors and did what they said. I tell them what I know about "me" that they can't assess on their own. They put it all together and we go from there. Bottom line is yes I have quite a few of what you have described too. You are not alone. Good luck and take care.

Debbie, two weeks into my treatment I developed yeast on my tongue or thrush. He gave me some kind of horrible tasting stuff for it but my mom said "eat lots of yogurt, it kills yeast" and since the medicine made me hurl I went to yogurt. all day for 3 days and no more thrush. I now eat it at least twice a day to try to keep this from happening again.
Best of luck with the nuero. Please keep us posted. You have helped me so very much. God Bless you.

Debbie,
Yeast on tongue = Thrush. I think there was a thread in the past on this, but I've had it 3 times. Once after tonsillectomy, once during R/C and once post treatment. Dyfluken(perscription) worked the best but affects your liver so I only used it the first time. The second time I used Nysatin (perscription-rinse and spit) and it worked ok. The last time I used the Nysatin along with starting probiotics (OTC). They eventually all worked but the Dyfluken worked the fastest for me.
Good luck!

symtoms
My husband was stage 4 tonsil cancer, had alot of radiation and chemo. A lot of the problems you are explaining he has. I think you should talk to your doctor but the memory issue is really bad for my husband and it has been almost four years. We do not go out to ear because food gets stuck. I hate to sound depressing but he is now having major dental problems. Make sure you address your oral health right away. Good luck0 -
