Hi Deb
I talked to Mike today he is doing very good and has just started gaining a few more pounds. His PEG is getting infected and they might have to remove it, the problem then he will need to take everything my mouth. I could not speak very long with him as I am in Honduras right now, but he is doing well is what I too wanted to know.
Take care0 -

thanks Hondo. that is great to hear. I'll pray the docs can get the infection under control w/o having to remove the tube.
I hope you and your wife are having an awesome time in Honduraus.

I am having a great time here but I am not too sure about my wife as she is back in the USA. We sometimes take vacations at different times as she likes going to her home Island and I like going to my home Island.
Thanks and God bless and be with you.0 -

Hello everyone,
I haven't been able to be on here as I have been getting weaker and have dropped even more weight. To date I have lost over 90lbs. I cannot stand up without feeling faint. I think part of that is a low blood pressure.
I now realize how careless they were when they radiated my neck and in the process severely affected my heart rhythm, stopped the function of my stomach digestion and the nerve/muscle functions of my intestines.
I'm nauseated most of the time now and not tolerating the shake drinks that they supply me with. I have become more lactose intolerant since all this began which has thrown a bigger wrench into the mechanism. My PEG has me doubled over most of the time when I try to walk, it bleeds a lot now and It's been infected a few times now. I finally got an appointment to have it removed. I haven't used it in a couple weeks for food as there is something wrong with it. I think there is a break between my stomach and the chest wall.
I began creating my own protein weight gain shakes a few weeks ago, but now I'm having
difficulties in tolerating them as well. I'm not able to get in enough calories or proteins a day to gain or even maintain weight. It's not going to good right now.
The good news!
1. Today I was able to get three finely chopped up soft poached eggs down for the first
time!
2. After several hospital screw-ups I'm finally scheduled to get dentures which will
hopefully help me in getting some food in. The Oral surgeons decided to not do surgery
to remove the exposed jaw bones throughout my mouth as they are afraid I won't heal very
well with my current depleted immune condition. They told me that the denturist they
referred my to is very good and can accommodate all the exposed sharp bones while making
the dentures....I hope so!
3. The kids are doing great and we have all been called to testify before a Grand Jury
against the SOB that abused them both. I'm just worried about me getting them there in
my current condition as it is a couple hour drive away.
4. My sons liver is still holding it's own and he is still doing well since getting off the
chemo back in April. If he can just keep this up for another 1.5 years he will get the
liver transplant.
5. I don't remember if I informed everyone but after my ex moved next door to us defying a
no-contact court order and began stalking all of us, forcing us to move during all this
medical crap, the judge was very ticked and he denied her any future contact.
Child Protective Services made a special trip out to reassure my son that if anything
ever happened to me that they would step in and take custody of him and that he would
never have to worry about seeing her gain. My daughter turned 18 so she doesn't have to
worry about it. She doesn't want any contact with her.
I'm praying that I can get stronger very soon as the Make-A-Wish Foundation is planning to send my son (and us) to Disneyland in a few more months. He is very excited to go there for the first time, as well as my daughter. I don't want to disappoint them.
To all of you, my great supporters and my strength through your prayers on our behalf....thank you!

Mike,
It's good to hear from you.
Sorry to hear about the continued weight loss. Do you have access to a nutritionist? The only I time did, it was PEG-related. I know that some centers have a nutritionist on staff (mine does not). Has your gastroenterologist checked the placement of your PEG? Hoping you can get your calorie intake on the upswing.
When do you and the kids need to go before the Grand Jury? I'm sure it'll be a load off to have that behind you all. Glad the kids are doing well - I know their well-being influences yours. Hope they keep doing well.
Prayers for your improvement. Please continue to keep us updated. We know that you have to focus on your recovery and your kids' well-being, so we don't expect frequent posts from you.
Do well,

Hi Mike. Thanks for posting. You and your family are an inspiration and I know to what organization my next donation will benefit. I have known about Make A Wish but never knew anyone who benefited from their work. I hope you all have a great holiday at Disneyland.

Mike, It's nice to see you post again. I know you are going through a lot right now, both physically and emotionally and probably don't have the energy to get on the computer very often but we worry about you when we don't hear from you for a while.
Hoping you are able to find something you can tolerate so you can gain some of your weight back or at least stop losing.
I will be thinking of you and your children and praying for you when they have to testify. I'm also hoping all goes well and you are able to enjoy the trip to Disneyland. Make A Wish is truly a wonderful organization that helps so many families.
Take care,

Hi Mike, glad to hear you got three eggs down. Three and one-half months out of treatment, and awaiting a partial neck dissection, eggs are still the only food I don't have to force down to eat. They are a great source of everything, so keep it up.
I'm not a lawyer, but my impression has always been that a video deposition was admissible if a witness was unable to physically appear in court.
healing hope to you and family,

Mike, other than all that you described.....how do you feel....:)
Seriously, though, glad to hear from you, and hoping that your ability to eat a few things keeps improving so you'll get healthier, stronger, and increase your ability to do the things that you need, both for yourself and for the kids....
Keep staying positive as you have been through this ordeal, I'm sure that it'll come back upon you in a very positive way.
Best always to you and your children,

It is great to hear from you. I hope things improve. Have you tried flan (a caramel custard)
It has that great slippery jello feel, but has some good calories. (well sort of good) You can get it ready made at Super One, it is made by Cozy Shack.
Thinking of you
