Potty talk.....
On the ship, it all flushed with a vengence...spraying everything in sight...not good for a 'frequent flyer' like myself...
Now, in Europe, many restrooms are unisex...In Rome, we stopped for lunch at a small restaurant with tables outside. That was fine. BUT I HAD to GO!!! So, inside, down the stairs, there was a toilet. But, to get to it, after entering the room, you had to climb 5 stairs, and then you could sit...I figured this was taking 'throne' a bit far...but as soon as the men found out, they ALL had to go there!!!
At the fish market in Majorca, there was a ladies' and a men's room, but both had a scale in them...to this day, I wonder what for...but, no paper in the stall, a 'paper distribution' area before you went in...I guess you had to decided before how much paper you would need...I took extra, just in case...
On the beach in Barcelona, there were metal toilets, no seats...slippery devils! (Of note, however, this was also a topless beach...so I sat, yes, sans top, and drank sangria...after that, the toilet seemed not so imposing).
On the train to Florence from the port, the toilet door wouldn't close...so, each time the train bumped a bit, the door flew open...NOT a good place to sit outside, especially on a hot day when, as we experienced, the air conditioning was broken!!!
In The Netherlands, there are old toilets that come complete with an 'inspection shelf'. Not a bowl with water, as we Americans are used to, but a bit of water in the front. No water tank, when you flush (I do, many times) it sprays, sort of like the ship experience...
In France, the toilets in the parks have a hole with 2 foot rests. As you exit the stall by opening and closing the door, the entire floor flushes...luckily, in the Grand Casino in Monte Carlo, they had more sophisticated facilities...complete with an automatic seat sanitizer that ran around the seat after each flush...
So, those are my experiences so far this trip. I don't think any non-semi-colon would understand why I have such an interest, but I knew you guys would get a giggle!
Hugs, Kathi

Have you paid for TP yet?HollyID said:Way interesting...
I heard you don't want to go to China. )
In Prague there was a man (in the ladies room) with a small table and rolls of paper for sale! but no matter how much money you gave him he would only give 3 or 4 squares, (I think there was a Seinfiled episode like this!) Believe me after that experience I collected napkins and tissues everywhere I went!

Yep, I've never let it stop me from travelling anywhere.
Having a colostomy is a blessing when it comes to some public toilets.0 -

And, when the drains in the floor gurgle from the flush...well...I like to beat a hasty retreat...hard to do with my pants around my knees!!!
I, too, am giggling!!
