"Grossly Normal"? - PET Mostly Clean

Add another to the "three months out" club.

Got my results today. Started late October 2009 with base of tongue stage IV - two nodes involved, one huge, one slightly enlarged. Did Induction Chemo, then rads with concurrent chemo.

Tongue is clean now (per CT and PET - "no significant activity"). Formerly huge node is a non-issue. the "small" node shows some activity, and is still slightly enlarged, but smaller. SUV was 9 - is now less than 2 (considered in the range of normal). PET shows "no evidence of metastatic disease".

Doc says he'd consider me in remission, but we have to watch the node, and I have to see a doc (rad, onco or ENT) once a month for the first year. Also have to have another PET when insurance co will permit.

So, I'm happy, but still have some concern - same as everyone else, I guess.

On a high note, my GP did blood work yesterday, and I now have normal range readings for my formerly high triglyceride (from 310 to 156) and A1C (was considered diabetic at 7.1, now 6.2)levels. Also, at three and a half months out, I'm just very slightly anemic.

Oh, and I found out that metabolic activity in my brain is "grossly normal" - I'm showing my family that report.

Do well,

Pam

    Congratulations!
    Pam,

Congratulations on the finding of "no significant activity" and on your "gross" normalcy! Your results sound about par for the course, for a 3-month scan. I've already been put on notice that I'll be seeing one doctor or another on a monthly basis for at least a year...

Now, get out there and have some summer fun!

Ah, yes- and I thought I was the only one who was grossly normal, or viceaversa! Good to hear, Pam. Stay Positive, girl.

    Congratulations on your scan.

There's been a lot of good news here lately. We'll add your grossly normal to the list.

It's very encouraging for those still in treatment.

Congrats on the clean scan. Love hearing about others who are doing so well.

Re- "grossly normal" brain activity - I don't want to know what mine is as I am sure it will give my family a good laugh - again ;-)

    Stay well,

Thank you all for your support. I don't have to tell you what it means to me - I know you know. Good thing - I'm not good with talking about feelings (but notice I do at least try much more often now).

    Do well,
