anyone else had a white plastic clip come out of penis?
at the Doc's office yesterday- he ran a scope up my tract and said there is one more clip protruding 1/3 of the way thru my bladder.
Doc says that everyone uses these types of clips to tie together the vascular tubes that are left open when the prostate is removed---they use up to 5 clips on each side.
this is the third time he has had a patient "burp" a clip , out of about 200 surgeries.
any one else have the problem? and how did it turn out?
thanks

clip--stay or go?Trew said:Something else to worry
Something else to worry about.
So, does the doc just let that last clip stay, or does it need to be removed?
it has taken a year/half for the first clip to come out. there is a chance that the second one will take quite a while, if ever, to fully emerge. he can surgically take it out, but that involves going into the bladder with a scope--i dont want to do that.--at least now--we are set to go to europe on a cruise next monday.
the worst that can happen is the clip comes loose-and tries to go thru my urinary tract sideways--in that case, i need to get near a catheter right away. if the clip does dislodge-hopefully it will slide thru longways, just as the other one did.
i was surprised to learn of all these plastic clips, which apparently go with any da vinci procedure. there is no dissolveable substitute as of today, i am told.0 -

So, now I learn I have undissolveable clips inside of me that maybe, someday, will come out the end of my penis- and maybe they may come out sideways!!
this is so sad.0 -

symptoms--are reduced flow and inability to stop the flow when it starts---but, 98.5% of the cases you shouldnt have to worry.0 -
I had the open procedure but
I had the open procedure but I find this interesting that even for the ones of us that did extensive research we never heard of plastic clips and worse peeing these clips…. You would think that this would be mentioned as a possible surgical issue… Perhaps the medical community should come with a warning …Caveat emptor0 -

I found out about clips when I had my pre-IGRT CT scan. They showed up, and when I asked what they were, they explained. Several of them, in fact.0 -

It seems that these are not "lost" or "left", they are used to tie off areas that are cut in surgery as opposed to stitching. They are expected to stay put, but it appears they can move around.0 -
