Does anyone know of a good product to use on the rash? I am on the 5th cycle and my face is pretty well covered with the rash. My skin is very dry and my nose is covered with scabs. All I am using now is glycerin rose water and vitamin E oil.

I get the rash pretty bad-
I get the rash pretty bad- face, chest, back and very very dry skin from chemo.
the only thing that works for me on y face is Flourcinide (spelling) it's a steroid and not meant for face, but it clears me up. All the other stuff determotologist gave me did not work....desonide, bactroban, I put vasiline on me at night and haven't workn make up in a year.

good luck. there are some other threads with other folks' remedies as well

    terrible rash
My husband will have 4th treatment this coming Tuesday and he was given Doxycline hyclate (Antibot.) and a few days later a gel, Clindamycin ph 1%. This has helped some but the rash is still pretty bad. His face is the worst with a few spots on chest, arms and shoulders.

    Any ideas would be appreciated?

    Rash from Erbitux
Went to get a treatment yesterday. They gave me the two chemos, but held off on the erbitux this week because the PA (doc wasn't there) didn't want my face to get infected. Two of my fingernails are infected but I don't think the keflex he prescribed is working; maybe have to try something else on that. Anyway, the PA told me to use 2% hydrocortisone that I had used in the beginning. It has helped overnight, but my face still gets itchy so on the advice of my pharmacist sons, I made a concoction of glycerine/rosewater and vitamin e oil. (Just mix up a little to make sure that it won't cause any more problems.) Either one alone stopped the itch, but they work better for me when mixed. Mix it 1/3 each. I have to put this on every couple of hours between the cortisone which I apply twice a day.
I don't know if this will work with anyone else, but it's worth a try.
Devasted--the rash on the rest of my body has almost disappeard. Maybe his will, too.
    Thanks for posting.

    Rash
I have had several rounds of of Erbitux and have the same rash as you described. I have tried lots of stuff that the doctors at MD Anderson recommend and nothing has worked very well. My wife kept telling me that I should try her coconut oil and I waited until the rash was really bad before I took her advice. I have been using Spectrum brand organic virgin coconut oil and it is giving me relief, finally. It is a light oil and has very little smell. She buys it at a health food store. It is a solid white oil and melts when you put it on your skin and has really helped to ease the side effects of the rash.

    Coconuts
Thanks. I'll get the coconut oil. Last night nothing was working until I tried some Walgreen's Moisturizing Cream. It's the store brand of Eucerin Cream. That finally worked and I got some sleep. The only trouble is, you have to apply it every couple of hours.
I'll try the cocnut oil today.
