Ascus-abnormal pap test
I was diagnosed with stage 3 Grade 3 IDC Breast cancer in 2007. I had chemo radio and still on Lupron and Nolvadex.
Now going through re-staging with regular pap test every 6 months my last pap test came back as Ascus and I must have a colposcopy in 2 weeks.
I hope some of you can give me some advice or information that may help.
Aly

Aly I was not familiar with term ASCUS
I looked up ascus and saw that it is an acronym for "atypical cells of undetermined significance". I too had an abnormal pap test and had a colposcopy next. Unfortunately for me both indicated cells that were "highly suggestive for adenocarcinoma"
My colposcopy was done in the doctor's office. They suggested taking motrin before the test. They said their would be "a slight pinching" as the biopsy was taken. I felt it was more than a "slight pinching". It downright hurt. So if you have something stronger than ibuprofen, I would recommend you take it before you go. But it is a very short time that it hurt. I had no spotting or pain afterwards. The waiting for the results is the hard part.
Good luck and I hope your results come back with good news for you. In peace and caring.0 -
