Sue, where were you when I was doing chemo? :-) I would have put you in charge of shopping for me -- these sites are great!
I just want to echo that I was one of many women here who ordered my free headwrap from FranceLuxe -- the company is owned and run by a kind, generous group of women who truly just want to make life a little brighter for women going through treatment.
Awhile back, someone here also recommended the headwraps at The Hat Cottage (http://www.etsy.com/shop/thehatcottage). Just the brightest, most fun prints I've ever seen -- ALMOST makes me wish I was still bald!

Try headcovers.com
They have a large selection - so many it was hard to make choices. I got some beautiful scarves. They also have headwraps, turbans, hats, and wigs.
I found this site the other day:
www.hatsforyou.com
I don't start chemo for a few weeks, and am on the fence about getting a wig. I don't think I'm going to. What have others done? How long did it take to get enough hair back that you felt comfortable with your head uncovered in public again?

Hey Suzanne
I really enjoyed my wigs. It's so easy to throw on your hair in the morning and go!lol!not like having to wash and blowdry and style your real hair...It took me about 8 months to get mine to a length that I'm comfortable with but I could have gone wigless sooner...I just got to like them too much and I didn't want to fool with the real stuff...As soon as you have about an inch and a half you can get it styled pretty cute....0 -

I just ordered 6 hats/turbans from headcovers.com. They really have a wide selection; can't wait till they come. Got my wig ready.
Haven't liked my real hairstyle/color for quite a while and this is a great opportunity to try something new. Hell of a way to go about it though.0 -

Hi, Suzanne. I'll be the devil's advocate here and say that I did not purchase a wig. I live in Florida and was going through chemo last year August through October. I went to a shop here that specializes in breast cancer supplies and products and actually tried on a couple of wigs. The owner ordered 2 wigs for me to try one was a Raquel Welch and another brand. When they came in, I wasn't impressed in me in a wig. So, I basically wore head wraps and ball caps. I ordered some beautiful headwraps from www.4women.com. I finished my radiation on Christmas Eve 2009 and got rid of the head coverings Mid February. Good luck to you.0 -

Hi Suzanne,
I'm not sure about wearing a wig, either. I did get a free one last week from a great cancer program in my town, but i just don't know if i'll get much use out of it...they're hot, if they're itchy on my head now while i still have hair i can't imagine how itchy they will be on my bald head! I have been stocking up on hats & caps, i ordered a head scarf from the website posted on here that gives the free ones also. I haven't even had my surgery yet but do know that I'll start chemo about 3 weeks after it.
