Husband had endoscopy today
Basketcase wife again. Charlie had his endoscopy today and he does have a gastric ulcer. The gastro doc biopsied it and told us that it was slightly bleeding and was stopping. (Visit to onc. today blood counts had dramatically improved after having two units of blood last Friday). He is really a great doctor. He said he didn't know that it was cancer and that it was not cancer. Some ulcer he can tell not; but this one he would not say one way or the other because according to him he just couldn't tell. We'll have to wait for the biopsy reports which will be a week at least! He didn't feel confident saying it wasn't or saying it was. He doesn't always biospy ulcers as he can tell just an ulcer sometimes. Now he did mention that because he had cancer before and I don't know if this had just been a non bleeding ulcer if he would have still biopsied or not or if this is general protocol because somebody has had cancer before. And the onc. believes the bleeding was related to the ibuprophen which I guess can cause the ulcer. Anyway he told him to start taking his Nexium twice a day and then they would do a repeat endoscopy in 8 weeks to see if it's healed or healing. I am such a nervous wreck, tears, the whole nine yards. I don't mind telling y'all that I am so afraid of losing him and being alone (we have no children). We beat the other cancer and hopefully this will turn out to be an ulcer brought on by the stress of radiation and chemo. Thanks for all your prayers and continued ones and will keep you up to date.

So sorry...
Jan, I'm so sorry that you are going through all of this stress again. I know it's natural to think the worst at times like this but please try to think positive. Worrying will not change the biopsy results, it will only make you sick. I'm sure everyone will agree that the waiting is the hardest part, it gives your mind too much time to come up with the worst scenarios.
You and Charlie will be in my prayers.
Stay strong,

Jan, it breaks my heart to
Jan, it breaks my heart to know you are gong thru so much. The others are right to say, try your best to stay positive and think good thots, but we all know that can be extremely hard. I hope you have some good friends you can talk to and even visit to keep your mind occupied. Or maybe you and Charlie and walk around the mall. It will be easier for both of you if you keep your mind busy. Too much idle time can drive you crazy. I'm glad you have found your way to this site. We are here to help you and give you support. We realize we can't be with you personally but we are here if you want to cry, vent, ask questions, or even just have someone to talk to. Jan, it is very important that you take care of yourself, you won't be able to help Charlie if you get sick... :0(

God bless you friends,

Good Morning:
I just want to thank y'all for your concern, prayers, and encouragement. I think I'm going to call the gastro's office today; write down all the questions I wanted to ask him yesterday and see if he can talk to me today; because I don't mind telling y'all I'm just a total basketcase right now. This is a wonderful website and Debbiejeanne I do have some very close friends one, my best friend, and we've known each other over 50 years now (been friends since we were 2 1/2 years old). She lives in Chatt. but is so wonderful and we've seen each other through a lot over the years. I'm getting emails from her and calls too. Anyway will report back if i'm able to talk to the dr. again today. Thanks again.

Endoscopy
Hopefully it'll improve within the 8 weeks. I know I had both a colonoscopy and endoscopy intitally. I'm good to go on the colonoscopy (10 years before another). But as for the endoscopy, I do show signs of damage due to acid reflux. They prescribed Protonix for indigestion and and to help relieve the acid reflux.
They suggested that I have an endoscopy every two years to stay up on it. If left untreated there's a possibility of developing Barrett's Disease.
My point is that the endoscopy will give them good baseline data on his throat and awareness of anything going on.
The good part is that they have found this and are on a path for diagnosing and treating it, much better than not finding it.
Be positive and strong and hopefully it won't be anything serious and or that if so, it can be easily treated.
Best and God Bless,
John0
