Dad finished today!
He will go to his ENT on July 6th for the first time since diagonis. All of the doctors have told him that he does not look like the same person that they saw at the begining of April.
Thank you so much for your prayes and advice. Please continue to pray for him.

yay kathy!
hi kathy, great news about your dad! my dad actually just finished his last radiation treatment on thursday of last week, and chemo wednesday! he is so happy to be finished, as im sure your dad is! we will have weekly visits with nurse from radiology for about 3 weeks because he has the trach and peg tube, 4th week he will see his oncologist, and about 6 weeks his gets that first PET SCAN (EEK).... we could only pray that it shows clean, as im sure you have been doing... i figured we've come this far, and they are soo strong in my eyes, we can take on the next challenge (if needed)...
many prayers out to you and your family!0 -

Great news for both of you. Puma, glad your dad has gone thru this with minimal side effects. some of mine didnt start until after though. Hopefully his wont.
Nicki, also great news, dont worry about that first PET seems a little early and always go into those things with a postiive attitude. Again great news for both
Best Wishes & Prayers

Great news about your dad. I am trying not to get to worried about the scan yet. I am not sure when he will have the first one. I am nervous about the ENT visit. He was very negative about my dad's prognosis when we first met with him. We may get a second opinion depending on how he is this time.

As Fire said, the PET's are both scheduled pretty early. If you read a lot of the posts, you'll see where the early PET scans tend to come back a little skewed because of the residual and scarring from the radiation and chemo.
Take them as a base line, but realize that over time, more than likely (great chances of likely) they'll clean up, if not clear to begin.
Best,

nikki, very glad your dad has completed trmnts. That is what we all love to hear. I also wanted to warn you about the pet scan. Many of us here had one at 3 months and it came back a FALSE positive. It happens quite a bit. So if your dad's first one comes back positive, try not to worry so much. Anyway, just wanted to say I've very happy for your dad and you!

Thank you! My dad is happy he is done. He said he is ready to sleep in tomorrow morning. He had to be at the rad office at 7:45 so that was a very early morning. I think I am ready for the recovery time also. I went with him to every treatment. Then I would go home and get ready to go to work at 2:00. His nurse told me that dad looks great after treatment but I didn't look so good:) Of course having posion ivy in both eyes is not help matters any.
Thank you again. I feel really blessed to have made so many new friends.

first of all id love to thank everyone on here for all their prayers and thoughts.. i cannot tell you how much of your advise has helped through this journey, and will continue to help!
kathy, after my dad's last round of chemo he was a firecracker (steroids), he was even answerin the phone which he has not done in about 4 months now, but we knew this would fade.... today was his first visit with the radiation nurse, and i checked in on him and my mom, the caregiver, and they were both wiped! sleeping... i thought to myself how dare you not call! hahaha.. funny how that happens, the roles sort of switch on us... once radiation treatments have completed the patient, caregiver and of course the driver, as you are need much rest and it is very well deserved! i have two kids, so i wasn't able to take him as much as i would have liked to... about 3 days a week.. and of course the long days where he would see the oncologist, radiologist and ENT, and i totally hear ya about the ENT! but we come to find out that he basically does run the show, and our views of him have changed.. hahaha... i wish you the best of luck to you and your dad and please keep us posted..
much love and prayers,
nicki0
