Lisa,
Welcome to these
Lisa,
Welcome to these boards-you will find lots of strong people and support here.
I guess it can be hard on those that care about us, and not everyone is the best at dealing with these kinds of issues in life and knowing how to support.0 -

Wow, you've really had a time of it. I'm glad you found us, though; there are so many people who are now in your corner, ready to listen, provide information and offer a shoulder. Welcome.
Hugs all around,

Hi Lisa!
I had breast cancer 11 years ago and when I got this cancer it really hit me hard. I felt I had really fought the good fight and then Bam!
I often feel people pulling away from me with the second cancer. I know exactly what you are saying. I am not sure I know how to deal with it. I do know people seem to do better when they see me still engaged in life and thriving (As Mary Ann calls it!) Randy Pausch also felt this and he addressed it in his Last Lecture (which turned into a wonderful book). He told people to "stay with me." He talked about all the things you can do with cancer. I often think that sometimes people don't know what to say and some are afraid you are going to leave the earth soon and they don't want to invest energy in you. I don't like those people anyway and I invest my time in those who care about me despite cancer.
Hang in there. You are going to take this one step at a time. People are often living well after being diagnosed with four different cancers in a life time.
Maybe we need a thread or site on just dealing with others reactions to our cancers. Because it is something we all sense and feel and I believe it is real.

Sorry you have had to join our sisterhood. None of us want to be here, but there is so much support here. Sorry about your support pulling away. You are right that this is the time you need support. May we be able to help you through this difficult time. In peace and caring.0
