And I opted for the chemo.
I was also offered the study, and my score would have put me in the randomized group, but I wanted to make my own decision and hit this with everything I have available.
My cancer was IDC 1.3 cm, grade 1, clear nodes.
I'm glad I had the Oncotype, it really helped me make that decision, as I was really leaning toward not doing chemo due to the possible long-term side effects.
I'm adding my hopes and prayers for a low score for you!
Cindy
You are the first person I have found with almost the same diagnosis as me! mine was 1.4cm, grade 1, clear nodes. But since I also had 6 areas of DCIS in different section of the same breast I had a BLM. I am strongly leaning toward Chemo. You are the first person I have met that went for it and had just about the same stuff as me! That makes me feel so much better. I am ready for my Onco appointment Tuesday. Do they give you thier oppion first or show you all the results and charts. I am curious if he will ask me what my feelings are about it before he tells me his opion.0 -
You beat my wife's scoredebbie-Warrior said:Yes i agree
My scores came in and I did the same thing..I did not want to know..now two years latter I know because I needed to make life changes as far as exercise and diet..Made those changes, because my score was so high...49...livestrong.
I'm sorry your score is so high, but I'm glad to see a two year survivor that had a score higher than my wife's 47. I guess the good part, if there is a good part, to a high score, is that the chemo is effective.
My wife is having breakfast with a friend who went through the AC-T regiment last year, trying to get the mental strenth up needed to start her treatments next week.0 -

My score
I did get my score last week..just didn't get here.It was 14 so I'm mid range of the low risk so I did a happy dance. I see the onco guy on Friday and see what he says. I also got the bill--OUCH!! Holy cow. I don't have to pay it, but it's easy to understand how/why people go bankrupt. And this is what annoys me--all the money that is literally POURED into
research and what have you--why isn't some of that money funneled into these testing facilities to keep the cost down.
Oh sorry...I was thinking logically.
